After the disappointment of early UK TRU sales on Xbox360 some good news from Germany.

Tomb Raider Underworld enters the German charts at number 2 on PS3, number 3 on Xbox360 and number 7 on PC

My thoughts on the depressed share price:-

Robert Tchenguiz lost his CFD's held in the Icelandic banking debacle.
They were held with:-
Heatherville 42,857,140 CFD's (with a Thorson related company(.

Some of these found homes with:-
14 Oct 08 Cazenove Capital Management Limited was 12,515,783 now 15,515,783
16 Oct Time Warner Entertainment Ltd was 37,518,080 now 42,518,080
This accounts for roughly 7 million.

Volume in the markets has been thin and there were some 14 million trades since mid October which is possible 7 million shares changing hands.

There were 42 million to sell and 7+7 or 14 million can be accounted for. That leaves roughly 28 million shares as a market overhang.

This could be One reason why the share price is depressed.
A Second reason is that Blue Chip shares are very volatile some having daily swings of 15% and that traders can make less risky returns. Plus many bank Rights Issues absorbing money. They are not trading Small Cap shares.

Mid February, when the Annual Results are out, may be the time these shares recover.

In the meanwhile AGM is NEXT Tuesday.

I'm not a regular poster here, but I think that the doom and gloom merchants on here will be quite suprised to discover that tru is selling well in many of the large outlets in the UK despite what someone wrote yesterday to the contrary. I've spoken to staff in the large HMV London stores, Zaavi, Asda and game stores. They told that there has been strong demand for it especially on ps3 adn wii platforms. The consensus has been that sales in the first week are not always a sign of how popular the game will be over the life of the game. The Christmas rush has not begun yet but it is close and I am remain confident that SEG will perform and produce the goods.

I agree that it would be helpful if directors bought some shares at this level in order to show their confidence but they are probably in a closed period prior to the agm on Dec 2nd.

So, we seem to have got a fair way into SPOnG's Charts report without finding out where Eidos' Tomb Raider Underworld has debuted, haven't we? Time for the big reveal. Number 9 is where it's kicked off its Charts life. Number 9. A bit disappointing for what should have been one of the year's biggest releases. Still, it outsold last year's Tomb Raider Anniversary, which was a re-make of the first TR game, in its first week by... 6,700. 51% of Underworld's sales were on the PS3, with 34% on the 360 and the remainder spread across the Wii, DS and PC.

In summary it does not look like a blockbuster game (on early indications) that stays in the charts for weeks. So you may see it shoot into the charts but disappear just as quick.

Alenrex, I have to be very careful what I state but UK (and Europe) sales are not great from what I am being told. Also not much demand has yet been seen, this seems to relate to the product not the recession. If you look back you will see I use to hold (no longer do).

If the position changes I will let you know, but the opinion seem to be it is not going to be big by early sales and may top charts early then disappear.

I am unable to state the source sorry, time will tell if you trust my post.
