29/11/2008 21:25 | Surely a takeover must go through this time. I can see a bit of a battle which might take the price as high as 50p or am I over optimistic. | amt
29/11/2008 18:57 | "Eidos has issued a response to reports that the Wii edition of Tomb Raider: Underworld features a game breaking bug which prevents players from progressing past the Thailand level." So, Tomb Raider mirrors real life ! I hope Eidos fix it quicker than the thai government are doing.... | fft
29/11/2008 14:26 | interesting the approaches were several weeks ago. I have seen some sales figures for TRU as reported by Jyske Markets based on Amazon figures. Seems that in UK, France and Germany to be OK but in US slipping in the sales chart places over the week. Next week could be interesting. | alanrex
29/11/2008 10:20 | ys, not really. European charts (not sales) normally comes out over time and NPD (for US) comes out about a week after the month end. Even those charts aren't 100% (NPD is extrapolated from around half the US retailers) but they are the best we get. First weekend sales of TRU (in Europe) are fairly mediocre but the real test will be to see if it builds from there or drops away. If it builds then that's fine but if it drops away then, I'm afraid, that is really goodbye Vienna imho. BTW, all the furore over the review score management is irrelevant - it doesn't affect sales even if there's a lot of noise on the internet. The Wii bug is a bit more serious, that's really poor. TR has never sold well on Nintendo platforms in the past and it probably wouldn't have been different this time around but it would have been better to have given it a clear run. | darrens
29/11/2008 09:44 | Ok so a large pinch of salt to be attached to vgchartz, is there a more reliable site or forum for overall sales Darren? | yellow_snow

28/11/2008 14:10 | Well all this 'adverse publicity' will not detract from the fact the TRU is selling well. So I have bought 100k at 19 as I believe this is a good level to buy. Fingers crossed. | davidbennett

28/11/2008 10:00 | Very poor show in terms of the reviews, I'm sure its standard operating procedure in the industry but to be caught out in public with statements that demonstrate blatant manipulation is plain stupid. Also allowing a bug, however minor, to be found within a few days of launch when this is the flagship title for the year (and probably the survival of the company in a recognisable form) demonstrates a wrrying lack of attention to detail. Luckily the sales figures are looking a bit better, www.vgchartz.com allows comparison with previous versions and makes for interesting plotting. Limited data of course but PS2 to PS3 comparisons on Anniversary and Legend look good, also better on Xbox 360 comparisons. Extra SKUs this time of course may help push through 3m total eventually. | yellow_snow

27/11/2008 17:25 | Eidos apologises for Tomb Raider Wii bug By James Orry - 27/11/2008 - 11:36am GMT Says 'anomalies' do occur despite the best efforts by publishers to avoid them. Eidos has issued a response to reports that the Wii edition of Tomb Raider: Underworld features a game breaking bug which prevents players from progressing past the Thailand level. "We are aware of a bug which is present in the Nintendo Wii version of Tomb Raider: Underworld. We would like to stress that this is an extremely infrequent bug, however on the rare occasion that it occurs; it affects the presence of a lever in the Thailand level of the game and prevents progress beyond this level. Eidos sincerely apologies to anyone who has experienced this frustrating problem," read a statement given to Kotaku. The statement continued: "The quality of our games is paramount to us and the Nintendo Wii version of Tomb Raider: Underworld went through three separate QA testing departments prior to release. Regrettably anomalies such as this do occur occasionally in video games despite the best efforts by publishers to avoid them. The good news is that it is not an unsolvable bug, so if you encounter it and it persists please visit www.eidosinteractive more great publicity!! perhaps they should do more comedy and less action games. | kooba
