If your bringing a company to market in early April, you would have known by last Christmas which institutions were prepared to back the flotation. As soon as the decision was made to list in Stockholm they would have been on the phone to all the usual suspects to see who would back the flotation. They must have enough support to make the listing worthwhile but they are not fully subscribed.

ned - I've been scanning the Swedish media and there is very little regarding Matra Petroleum AB and nothing regarding publicising the share flotation.

budget - That's the point if the institutional investors were backing the flotation they would know how much they would raise but if you read the article they are vague about the possible fund raising with the IPO. This indicates that the flotation is not fully subscribed.

Just throwing my two penny worth in. I have been worried about the lack of publicity as well, however, i cannot see the importance of that in the UK as it's listed in Sweden, so I assume there would be very little interest from the UK. Therefore it would make sense to attract buyers from Sweden and maybe bigger institutions. I might be wrong but at the end of the day you can only go on previous history which as Ted says it's not good, but I'm still hoping that this will pleasantly surprised us all, I've got nothing to lose as I had written off my 17k ......

beggarman, Eric Forss must have gone around his existing network of investors in Sweden to promote Matra which is why there hasn't been any publicity

The lack of publicity regarding this placing makes it difficult for potential investors to know that the shares are for sale.

Budget

You just kiss their posteriors irrespective of their actions .
Nothing you post has any merit.

beggarman, if there's no purchase of additional assets aligned to the issue of more shares, then I agree the opening price will be lower. But I suspect there will be.

budget - My concern is the sentence "How much the company should take in connection with the IPO depends on the interest of investors". This indicates they are going to issue more shares than the current shareholders own, there are two problems for us with this strategy. Firstly the shares have to be priced to sell, so the opening price will be low and secondly if the shares are undersubscribed the share price will move lower.

It's going to be a great day for Ted!

I've re-read the newspaper article this morning and I remain extremely positive. It suggests that the purchase of assets/acquisition/merger is going to happen as I thought it would.

Oil entrepreneur Eric Forss woo investors ahead of a comeback in the Swedish stock market

Who has he been wooing?

That's the best insight we've had for a long time - great find!

This bit made me chuckle:

"..Prior to listing in Sweden, the company has a few thousand British minority shareholders who control 30 percent of the company..."

Few thousand? I think we're all on here aren't we :) Especially those with aliases...

Looks promising. Still would like to have seen some form of communication with us "minority shareholders" rather than leaving us in the dark like this - really have treated us very poorly all along.

I hope it lists, and to be honest i think there's a good chance it might do well, given time. But I for one will be straight out. Once bitten and all that...

Reading between lines Alliance shareholders got stuffed and he is somewhat dismissive of existing small Matra shareholders -Though Not sure how much lost in translation "the company has a few thousand British minority shareholders who control 30 percent of the company "

One interesting sentence from the above article is:

"How much the company should take in connection with IPO depends on the interest of investors"

This indicates that there may be more shares issued at the time of listing than just those allocated to the current shareholders.
