If we converted all our coal to gas we would smash our emmissions targets. The problem of s that the developing countries are polluting so much that whatever we accomplish is a drop in the ocean.

Today I have officially lost any profit previously taken out of my investment in this company. I held from 72 - 125 where I sold my holding. I later bought at 90 believing it to be a bargain and averaged down at 22 believing it to be the bottom. I'm now back where I started 3 years ago!

Also enduring a very challenging period is IGAS Energy (LSE: IGAS). It recently reported a loss-making first half of the year, with impairments and goodwill charges having a hugely negative impact on its financial performance. And, with revenue halving versus the first half of the prior year mainly as a result of the lower oil price, IGAS has been forced to cut costs in an effort to boost its financial outlook.

In fact, IGAS has now completed its cost-cutting programme and has reduced its cost per barrel by 19% to $31. This should allow it to post improving profitability over the medium term, with IGAS expected to report a pretax profit of £3m next year. This would represent a major improvement on last year’s £18m loss, although further impairments and goodwill charges could still place and push IGAS’s bottom line into the red.

While IGAS has a large amount of potential and now trades on a price to book value (P/B) ratio of just 0.4, in the short term its shares could come under further pressure due to a challenging near-term financial outlook. As such, it appears to be a stock for the watch list rather than a company to pile into at the present time.

UK Oil & Gas Investments PLC

("UKOG" or the "Company")

Acquisition of Additional Interest in PEDL143, Holmwood Prospect, Weald Basin, UK

UK Oil & Gas Investments PLC (London AIM and ISDX:UKOG) announces that it has executed a farm-in agreement with Warwick Energy Exploration and Production Limited ("Warwick") to acquire a further 10% interest in UK onshore Weald Basin licence PEDL143 ("Licence") which contains the Holmwood Prospect. This second farm-in increases UKOG's interest in the Licence to 30%. As previously reported, the Company will participate in the drilling of the planned Holmwood-1 exploration well which will test the Holmwood Prospect's identified Portland sandstone, Kimmeridge limestone and Corallian sandstone reservoir objectives.

PEDL143 covers 35.5 square miles and is located to the immediate west of Horse Hill licence PEDL137, in which UKOG has a 20.163% interest, and to the immediate south of the Brockham oil field, licence PL235, in which UKOG has an interest via its 6% ownership of Angus Energy Limited.

Further details of PEDL143 prospectivity are available on the Company's website www.ukogplc.com

Transaction details:

Subject to receipt of the necessary consent from the Oil and Gas Authority ("OGA"), UKOG will pay a consideration of GBP25,000 and a 20% share of the Holmwood-1 exploration drilling costs in order to acquire a full 10% working interest in PEDL143 from Warwick.

UKOG's 20% share of well costs will be capped at GBP0.6 million net to UKOG (i.e. 20% of a gross Holmwood-1 well cost estimate of GBP3 million). Gross well costs above GBP3 million, should they arise, will be met by UKOG, Warwick and other partners pro-rata according to their working interests in PEDL143.

From Energy Minister's speech today ... "Of course we can’t be complacent. We currently import around half of our gas needs, but by 2030 that could be as high as 75%. That’s why we’re encouraging investment in our shale gas exploration so we can add new sources of home-grown supply to our real diversity of imports. There are also economic benefits in building a new industry for the country and for communities. Our North Sea history means the UK is a home to world class oil and gas expertise, in Aberdeen and around the UK – we should build on that base so that our shale potential can be exploited safely."

Well since the application in N. Yorks has just been put off until Feb, is it time for her to do what she has the power to do now & make the decision ?

North Yorks has 8 drilled wells & they asked to frack.
