HVE worked on a 3 cycle project system 1 at the start, 1 ongoing, 1 complete at final account stage. This was when HVE had very experienced PMs and with a lot more accounts than they currently have.
There was and has always been a problem with PMs not being in the office on a Friday.
The 12 noon finish is away of sanctioning that issue.

By Your reckoning Havelock would have around 40 - 50 projects on the go at any one time. They might have had that amount when they turned over 120 million and had the Lloyds account. But not today.
Your correct with the 12.00 noon finish but tell this why did the CEO ask PMs to stay past that time when there was a shareholders meeting.
A noon finish does not mean you dont turn up.

Sorry Tommy2 but your info is dated ,most PMs are delivering minimum 4-6 projects at any one time , maybe some are delivering 1 big budget project which requires a full time PM , I believe it was the company's decision to go with a 12 noon finish on a Friday ,

pied wagtail, not sure were you get your information. The currant PMs only handle and get 1 project at a time. Most go missing on a Friday travel 2 days out of the remaining.
2 currant contracts in the London area have been a disaster. Late furniture unhappy clients. Over spend on prelims. Site manager leaving his site early with the full knowledge of the PM and nothing has been said.

Toscin , i would have to disagree with your first comment , The PMs are vastly over worked and paid accordingly ,at present the PMs are the backbone of havelock ,dealing with awkward cients and getting projects completed and on budget

Not only are the PMs vastly over paid, HVE have a team of "Buyers" and associated costs / overheads milling around in China and have had for some years. You could understand the reasoning when HVE turned over +£120M and was sourcing cheaper raw materials and finished products for all the intra group companies (Showcard, HVE, ESA, Teacherboards, Clean air etc) but all these companies have now gone ? All the good Sales People are no longer with HVE but with competitors and the rates mentioned above are disgusting for PMs and the mentality and thinking behind this and the zero hours contracts ???? You can now see why any Projects going through do not make any margin !!!! As shareholders what option is there but to get Hew Balfour to merge this into Styles and Wood and trim out the Fat cats and massive overhead associated with them.......

Ta, honestjohn1. :-)

This has dragged on for years. I had thought that Andrew Burgess would have got a grip on it - but there's only so much a (large) minority shareholder can do.

I do hope he eventually exits ok. He comes across as a decent bloke.

I remember when HVE had a relatively high asset value. With hindsight it might have been better closing down and selling the assets.

Maybe the new management will ultimately turn it around?

FWIW, I sold out a while ago.
