Is the GLENCORE big shake up, going to mark the start of the end for the Mining sectors downturn?

It would be appreciated Matt. I think most ADVFN posters get into the habit of relying on the thread they read for the charts on a daily basis.

Thanks for the new updated thread Mattjos, though I also prefer the daily price and historical charts on Sat's old thread, and find myself jumping between the two.

Good that most have followed over onto your new thread though.

Cheers.

150k at 5.25p just gone through... looks like a block seller, for whom the MMs are facilitating a controlled exit... ie. They are only selling some when they get a roughly same-sized buy beforehand... that would also explain why I couldn't sell a sausage earlier this afternoon, the block seller is being given priority...The good news is that they must surely only have a fraction of the number of shares that Bashirov had, and they can only sell once!...NAI

But can you not include the default ADVFN charts as in every other thread ? Most would prefer it that way I think. I don't see a daily chart either, but would make sense I guess if you want to deter the trading herd ;-)

stop whinging .. its there now :-) All I am trying to do is encourage investors and deter the trader herd.
I do think that most people able to navigate to a thread can throw up a chart for themselves. Anyway the 3 month chart, with volume is there now. The long, long term chart is already there with some commentary.

Are folk happy now with the thread header? Any other research links?

So if I'm a good boy and read all your stuff first, then you'll include the charts ;-)

Interesting approach I guess, but is it really too much to ask for to tick these two (bloody ) boxes in the edit tab ??

Don't want to be rude, but it's just annoying having to switch between the two threads as any investor has to see the historical chart here, which you kindly omit.

I'll do the charts soon, promise :-) Just want plenty of people to first read the links to the rather more important stuff.

Is this the new AAZ thread now ? The charts are missing - would be nice if they can be included in the header.

Cheers webshares, I doubt you will get a response but you might. Ultimately the company has to be told by Bash that he is out, they don't know themselves officially, although they might know unofficially. It's very hard to imagine that the large delayed 4M sell the other day was anyone else... but who knows what happens on the AIM? Perhaps Bash was telling porkers, or perhaps there is another seller?Clear as mud. It's certainly a bit odd having zero trades today, and I can barely sell a sausage. There must be another seller, it's the only rational explanation?NAI

I've emailed the company regarding Bashirov amongst other things. I'll let you know if I get a response.

We still wait for the news re. Bashirov Holdings I am guessing + the next Q'ly production update in 2 weeks time + early indications as results of the new plant and what effect it is having on run rate & costs.
Who knows .. seems likely to be the Bashirov Holdings RNS though that most will want to hear about. Cannot believe that he is not either significantly sub-3% or, completely sold up given the buying pressure of late.

I agree that the opportunity is huge. So what's going on then, that there hasn't been a single share traded today?...

Given the Behre Dolbear 2005 analysis on what a prospective purchaser would pay for the Contract Areas & even taking into account the extraction to date, the current 'break-up' mkt cap afforded the company seems utterly ludicrous.
The Az govt has a stated intention (like many ex-Soviet states) to build up its Gold reserves and diversify away from the US$.
The duality of the PSA means that post Peak CAPEX, the arrangement strongly favours the company and in the wider picture is akin to a moat around the company due to its virtual monopoly of Gold mining in the country.
I do not believe there is any way the govt of Az is going to stand-by and see this company either fail or, get snaffled on the cheap by a predator, particularly given the personal relationship between the President and Mr. Vaziri

"On the basis of an analysis, historical and recent, of the gold and copper markets, Behre Dolbear adopted for valuation purposes a base case price of copper of $1.12 / lb and for gold $372.27 / oz. On a gold equivalent calculation (which, included copper values at 50 per cent. only), the equivalent resource is 15.58 M oz.
After analysing related transactions (the price paid for comparable mineral properties) and taking into account market sentiment and prices in the region of $430 / oz gold and $1.45 / lb copper, Behre Dolbear believes that a purchaser would pay a minimum of $450 million for the Contract Areas thus valuing Anglo Asian’s 55 per cent. weighted interest at $247.5 million. However, Behre Dolbear note that special circumstances that relate to particular mining projects can have a significant impact on value and modify
values accordingly."
