As it was the CCM who sent in the troops resulting in fatalities, the opposition will have high expectations in the region come 25th October.

Meanwhile, the CCM have over the years enacted very restrictive and harsh electoral laws and the party effectively "owns" the police. This is by no means the first police interference and with the Opposition drawing crowds of many thousands to their rallies and their leader Lowassa going around mob handed, the stage is set.

Great name, though!

Thanks for that edgar222 and seeing the name Stuart Dalby reminded me of Oilbarrel and how much it's been missed over the past few months.

Hopefully, a parallel format will be launched ere long.

Yes they have a lot to learn, like making the exams easier, do they not have a New Labour Party. I suppose they mean compared to International standards.

Not just the politicos, rare to see any realism re offshore gas in the English Language media either

Some of Tanzania's problems identified. Despite the billions shovelled in by the UK and others, the education system is a disgrace with free secondary education still only a political promise. Average marks in the age 15 exam are in the teens for arithmetic and English.

invest any gas revenue in public services?

In Africa, there are many public services to invest in. For a start, all the government's wives need a new Mercedes.......

It is easy to judge Africa by European standards, but it is mistaken. In Africa, there are no rules apart from the one relating to self-preservation.

The report which shows that citizens are significantly misinformed about the potential of the country's deposits, show that 59 per cent of citizens think that natural gas deposits will improve their lives and a similar (58 per cent) expect government to invest gas revenue into public services.

Oh dear! So they are misinformed to think that the gas deposits will improve their lives or that the government will invest any gas revenue in public services?

To be serious for a moment (cough), Twitter is an amazing source of information about shares. I post and re-tweet more there than here.

You cannot re-tweet your own tweet and I think what you (KevJones) might be talking about is me tweeting a post on this board. Which I accept but it was in the early days of Twitter (for me) and has not happened again.

Enough of twitter.

Cheers all
