06/6/2012 17:21 | Hedge or no hedge... It is pushing the 4 quid mark... | richscotsman
30/5/2012 18:18 | 100,000 in the last 90 days rich - are you plotting a graph:-) I don't think it is a hedge, because it depends on government spending and is small, even though I increased my holding this afternoon. I bought more PNN before the results - it is up today. That is a safe haven. apad | apad
30/5/2012 17:05 | Holding tight with both hands.... Abc is a great safe haven investment IMHO and does well when the us dollar is strong therefore providing a good hedge for commodity investments... It will be interesting to see the impact of their recent investments in the next couple of years, I imagine that the acquisitions have a strong strategic element. Wingrove ... Are you in here? | richscotsman
28/5/2012 19:25 | This is doing really well considering the present turmoil any holders about | 4wingrove
17/5/2012 16:05 | another nice dividend payment showing on my bank statement - happy days ;-) | richscotsman
12/5/2012 06:59 | In 2005, Abcam listed on the London Stock Exchange's AIM market, with a placement of £15m and valuation of almost £60m. Not bad for a company just seven years old at the time, whose founder, Dr Jonathan Milner, had had to re-mortgage his house to set it up. Also not bad for a company whose circumstances were so straitened seven years earlier that Milner had been forced to trudge round the laboratories of Cambridge selling his wares in an ice bucket to raise some cash. So where did it all go right? And what was Milner selling from his ice bucket? See full article at: | m.t.glass
26/4/2012 10:54 | APAD The website ticker that Rich talks about is more like a headline box that scrolls through news items. It's on the righthand side of the first page just below the 'Quick Order' box. | ranger101
26/4/2012 09:54 | rich... I still can't find this website ticker. Please will you post the URL. apad | apad
20/4/2012 17:26 | Jobs now on offfer, 12. cf 6 last time I checked. apad | apad
29/3/2012 16:04 | Sweet.... I don't know if anyone else noticed but the abc website ticker has just moved from 90k products sole in the last 90 days to 100k. Now this went up to 100k just before Chimbo. Given most people are off for the first week or so of the year this suggests that the rate excluding holidays is now over the 100k in 90 days range..... E.g. Suggests ongoing growth. I like this share, I like it a lot. Rich | richscotsman
06/3/2012 07:27 | Surprised to find these results out. Just found them, away yesterday. Solid stuff and I like the acquisition. I trust them to integrate well and slowly before earnings accretion begins. With the usual growth, H2 eps should be around 8p, adding up to around 15p for the year. | don carter
05/3/2012 13:15 | looks like another well thought through strategic buy opening up further customer bases in the US and China and expanding the product range - a decent price as well by the looks of things.... good solid growth figures as well... well done and thank you to the Abcam BOD. | richscotsman
05/3/2012 09:50 | Yup. Comforting organic growth figures. Diluting increase in shares to pay for moat widening. Happy to hold. apad | apad
05/3/2012 09:49 | They brought them forward to coincide with the acquisition announcement. | wjccghcc
05/3/2012 09:48 | yep....Abcam plc (AIM: ABC), a global leader in the supply of protein research tools, will announce its interim results for the six months ended 31 December 2011 on Monday 12 March 2012. | cambium
05/3/2012 09:43 | H1 results out but I thought they were going to be published in a week on 12 March. Very Confusing! | quickmind
24/2/2012 21:57 | my goodness - aim is like a herd of sheep but there we go.... Do people always need to let an II go first? | richscotsman
24/2/2012 21:00 | I am back in after a few years absence - the chart looks a little less perfect than it used to but still a good company/ management etc. Results will move things quite a bit I suspect when we see the effect (if any) of cuts. I still think there is a good chance of a takeover too. | artibee
24/2/2012 17:21 | a few years ago when this happened I seem to remember it was directors selling - which gave rise to some of the takeover speculation. | artibee
24/2/2012 11:59 | wtf? That volume spike is unreal..... | don carter
24/2/2012 11:46 | Yep. Biggest daily volume in almost 2 years. Mostly at/around yesterday's closing price. | m.t.glass
24/2/2012 10:03 | MASSIVE volume today.... | richscotsman
21/2/2012 08:55 | Back in for a few, and will buy more if it drops any further. Reliable performer and good management. | don carter
20/2/2012 17:05 | - rsm Thanks for your input. | quickmind
19/2/2012 22:39 | Quickmind I consider myself extremely lucky... I have had my holding here for long time and sold some due to a house purchase last year. This is a different stock now as the likelyhood of 10-bagging from here is probably more than before but it will take far longer. If we hit £3 then we are likely going to start a bidding war - there was an attempt to buy us before which the directors rightly sent packing albeit it was a close call - that was 4.5 years ago from recollection. share price based upon solid cashflows, continued growth of sales, cash in the bank, no debt and huge barriers to entry... I have to say bring on £3 and I'll be topping up. The best thing about this stock is the strength of mgmt - they have got rich but they have not been greedy and their approach to acquistion is conservative which I appreciate. It might not be a LOGP or an ENK in terms of excitment, but it is as solid as they come hence why I am looking at shifting some pension funds over here. Best of luck all | richscotsman |
