05/7/2011 22:05 | Hey Billy Well, I feel like a fool for my previous 'advice'... you live and learn and maybe it'll come right. Back on topic, could not find a date on the website - it is normally late summer. One of the lessons that I have learnt is that 'trend is your friend'. I am hopeful for a decent set of results and c£33.8m net profit but I also see this as at the top of a rising share price channel. If I were buying just now I would hope for 20-30p lower to get in before results but I would not take my advice tbh! A great stock with a share price chart worth printing and framing. 05/7/2011 18:43 | Hi Rich, Yep, looks like SEA has become a "long-term hold", had a feeling in my water it was all just too good to be true! But still intigued by the company's prospects going forward so happy to wait things out, we shall see.... ABC just keeps rising though, nice new highs this week, I love it's chart! Last year's trading statement was 15th July, so am assuming we'll get an update next week, or the week after? | billy ray
04/7/2011 22:44 | The LSE show that trade as being cancelled some d.......d newbie put too many noughts on his trade | 4wingrove
04/7/2011 22:34 | I am a bit dubious about that sale ay 457p!! was it a sale so close to bid do any directors hold that many shares | 4wingrove
04/7/2011 22:22 | Have been keeping an eye on this for a while but missed the rise over the last few days, then see a sale of 5,000,000 at today's close! Possibly a director's or II's sale ahead of the year-end trading update? Anyone with other ideas? | snowy68
04/7/2011 19:53 | Good post Billy - Mr Milner certainly does not seem to have his tail between his legs which bodes well for the results this summer. Also relevant looking forward is the exchange rate situation, if the currency traders are right then we might be enjoying a weak sterling for a while yet: Rich (P.S. too bad on SEA - ouch, was a kick in the shins for me, at least ABC is looking solid) | richscotsman
01/7/2011 14:59 | Nice article, sounds like more growth to come??: Good rise today, although volumes not that impressive so far. Will be interesting to see if we can break through resistance at 436ish... then onwards and upwards (hopefully!). Cheers | billy ray
01/7/2011 13:00 | Wassup here then! | cambium
26/5/2011 16:55 | Rich Definitely not complaining about a 6.5% rise in ABC today, whatever the reason! Very happy to keep holding this one. Particularly keen to watch what happens with Abcam's exposure to China over the coming months/years. Don't have too much cash in SEA, but enough to make a difference if the sale of SERL achieves what it's rumoured to (hoping to top-slice on the news and have a free ride on Sea Marine). Did a bit of research on it last year after your tip, and it was easy to get up to speed using the great thread Reesyheli has set up. Been reading a few of your posts and it sounds like you have a decent-sized investment in it, so you may be living up to your name sooner rather than later.. let's hope so! Cheers again | billy ray
26/5/2011 14:08 | Actually just had a closer look at today's trades, looks like a few big SELLS. One sell this morning was for nearly £5.5M! Slightly confused, therefore, by the rising SP, any thoughts? | billy ray
26/5/2011 13:47 | richscotsman, Remember you tipping SEA here last year, and I remember thinking it was a bit too risky for me and so not buying (...D'oh!!). Anyway, kept it vaguely on my radar and eventually bought in last week at 53p (after noticing the share price rise). Still reckon that's a bargain! So wanted to say thanks for the heads up, interesting few weeks ahead. Still holding ABC too, high valuations a slight concern but I like the company so have no plans to sell just yet. As you say, ABC board tend to be cautious in their outlook but, so far, have consistently out-performed so hope this may continue. Chart looking good, with nice steady rise this year (with spike around the interims), and nice rise today on high vol (>1.8m so far)... any specific reasons for today's surge? Anyway, cheers again for the tip on SEA, much appreciated, and next time I'll pay more attention to what you say ;-) Cheers | billy ray
24/5/2011 13:57 | Apad Good to know that at least someone is looking at the board! With the greatest respect to the analysts that cover ABC they have consistently 'misunderestimated'i edit - I should back up what I say, google 'abcam beats forecasts' and you get 11,400 results. Rich P.S. I tipped SEA here last year at about 20p - now over 60p and rising fast - they are selling an asset worth c£200m in a couple of weeks time (RNS stating early June) - price tbc but 19 bidders and a consortium of 4 big utilities at PB. Market cap is only £43m.... a wonderful one way bet if you need another good stock for your portfolio... | richscotsman
24/5/2011 13:48 | Thanks for the weather-eye rich... here there be lurkers. I bought ABC on the rebound when my lovely BII was bought out by management types. Still a touch worried about the high valuation - price to cash flow about 35 last time I looked! Analyst forecast EPS not that high. apad | apad
24/5/2011 12:00 | Okay, seeing as everyone seems half asleep on this board... this mornings RNS for anyone that missed it. Now I happen to think that this is a great little buy on the basis that before you even start to think about the broader strategic benefits and the increased access to customer bases the quickest and easiest calculation suggests that Abcam have increased their turnover by 1.8% per year for the equivalent cost of 0.5% of the Mkt Cap. The likelyhood is that the benefits will be far greater imho. Rich ABCAM PLC ("Abcam" or "the Company") Acquisition of Protein Research Tools Business in Oregon, USA Abcam plc, a global leader in the supply of protein research and detection tools, is pleased to announce that it has completed the acquisition of the entire issued share capital of MitoSciences Inc. a leading provider of mitochondrial research tools based in the USA. 12/5/2011 15:55 | For me this is yet another example of the high quality mgmt at ABC. No sign of them resting on their laurels I would say. | richscotsman

13/4/2011 19:45 | My post #306 refers to an early query (post #304). I doubt that the divident payment has anything to do with share price movement. | quickmind
13/4/2011 15:02 | The dividend yiels is negligible. Great share though | 4wingrove |
