31/5/2018 20:23 | jonwig - that may well be the case, but it seems illogical to me given the cross-holdings. I get the feeling that the industry is reluctant to criticise until its beyond doubt that the Good Ship Woodford has well and truly hit the rocks! | topvest
31/5/2018 19:52 | 1tcm1, you and Mochyn do appear to be two peas in a pod, I’ll give you that. I did see two folk lying down in the doorway of Debenhams (Magdalen St.) last night (lots of cardboard and dogs with them). Not you, surely? | chucko1
31/5/2018 18:47 | Really hard to see where the growth will come from with WPCT though. No potential unicorns that I can see, and still a lot of room to fall for many of the overpriced unquoteds. @Careful - once again, this has not "always been a high risk high return" investment. It was launched with a risk rating of 3/7, a lower risk rating than many bond-only funds. Compare this to the risk rating of WIFF (5/7) and WEIF (6/7). This was supposed to be the safe punt. And they are still marketing it with the same risk level | daffyjones
31/5/2018 18:34 | topvest - they took the Income Fund from their recommended list, but their suggestion for buying is WPCT: | jonwig
31/5/2018 18:28 | All very odd, but Charles Stanley have now tipped this a few days after taking it off their fund buy list. Has Neil had a word maybe? It’s almost as if there are few people in the City prepared to risk it and stand up in public and say....Neil, you have lost it mate...maybe reread your Intelligent Investor book and start again, because leveraged speculation isn’t what you’re supposed to be doing as a value investor! | topvest
31/5/2018 16:39 | hpcg. You ask me what my view is of Mareo . My view is that it is spelled Mereo. BTW you can tell Tom it's that spelling too because he made the same error. Elementary mistake there! Not very good at this game, are you? It's also a steady company of its kind and has some good projects not just the one you ask about.. It's exactly the kind of company that WPCT should invest in. I give it a one in three chance of breaking out big time! I'm beginning to sound like dopey topvest dishing out prophecies. Don't tell him I said that! | mochyn
31/5/2018 16:32 | Oh, at last. How nice! A bit of brightness amongst the dark clouds of this thread. | harijan
31/5/2018 16:12 | Pontypridd tech, that's me. Have you got a problem with that? Are we now going to have some educational establishment snobbery? LOL | minerve
31/5/2018 16:00 | Au contraire, as I said in my speech to those stupid investors, I thought Mochyn's post was very funny and apposite. You are a curmudgeon without a sense of humour, chucko mate! Mochyn and I went to Oxford: I'm not sure where you went. Pontypridd tech? | 1tcm1
31/5/2018 15:06 | Mochyn, a tip for you. Whenever you write a “humorous̶ | chucko1
31/5/2018 11:04 | Yes, Woodford is not beyond challenge, questioning or mistakes. Even the Oracle of Omaha knows and accepts that! ;) | minerve
31/5/2018 10:56 | Not exactly super Mareo then hpcg. Guess they won't be needing any pallets anytime soon... careful no one doubts Woodford's sincerity or work rate. However I think it is legitimate to question the due dilligence behind some of these investments, plus the very small staff levels at WPCT. | ltcm1
31/5/2018 10:23 | If mr. Woodford does get his staff to read this thread I would like to reassure him that some holders are not as crazy as others. This has always been a long term high risk/high reward punt and I for one is prepared to let Neil make judgements on my behalf and see how things turn out I the long term. I know he gets handsomely rewarded for doing what Buffett described as 'pushing money around' but he will be trying hard, there is pride and reputation at stake. | careful
31/5/2018 10:15 | Mereo is 3.5% of the portfolio. Last month it withdrew its attempt to list on Nasdaq, and this month raised 150,000 through selling shares on Primary Bid. That doesn't suggest a large amount of investor enthusiasm. It has a few drugs in late phase 2 trials, but only 6 months of cash left at current burn rates, based of year to Dec 2017 full year accounts. It is going to need positive results for current holders to prosper as it must raise more funds and fairly soon. WPCT won't be able to stump up unless it raises cash from elsewhere. | hpcg
30/5/2018 21:00 | Confirmation today that WPCT has been relegated from the FTSE 250: hxxp://www.ftserusse Changes take effect from June 15th. | daffyjones
30/5/2018 20:57 | Chuckie old chap, only ever been short this at various times. Chart not bonny or very exciting, but there's always the possibility of a tech bounce at 72.00 | pediment
30/5/2018 13:38 | "Clearly these pages are heavily scrutinized at Woodford Towers." Well if they are I hope Mr Woodford you are going to do the honourable thing and back Mr Ferguson at Stobart as Chairman. The group has outgrown Mr Tinkler and other shareholders are not interested in this man's self-interest. | minerve
30/5/2018 12:29 | 1tcm1, not sure what you are reading, interpreting or even hallucinating, but I have not changed my position one iota. | chucko1
30/5/2018 12:08 | Woody resumed his tweeting within an hour of my post above. Clearly these pages are heavily scrutinized at Woodford Towers. | ltcm1
30/5/2018 09:25 | Woody hasn't tweeted for six days now, is there some kind of problem??? | ltcm1 |
