02/5/2018 21:01 | Some interesting points in the last few posts. I agree with @ltcm1 that WPCT is not a classic 'buy low, sell high' stock precisely because of the factors that @careful describes. We will only know what is high or low when the fund matures (at least two or three years from now). By then, investors will most likely either be shirtless or have a wardrobe full of new ones. Right now, we just don't know ... and we really don't have any way of improving on our ignorance. WPCT is simply a very interesting 'punt' based on Woodford's persuasive (but quite possibly mistaken) view of why British companies have failed to capitalise on British inventiveness and scientific research. I'm prepared to put about 5% of my pot into that investment and quite possibly to lose the lot. If you can't or are unwilling to take that type of risk (depending on your own funds and circumstances) ... leave WPCT well alone. It's not for you. @careful also mentions that Woodford "will be learning". I think that's an extremely important point. He has clearly made some significant mistakes and the thing that is absolutely key is whether and just how well he can learn from these and improve future fund management. He has a superb track record up to now and I'm prepared to bet that a good deal of that stems from his ability to learn and adapt. So I'll stick with him. I don't have any means of investing in this kind of portfolio of opportunities directly. WPCT is a vehicle that opens up that possibility for me and I'll trust in Woodford to deliver. Your mileage may vary. @topvest ... despite all your protestations, you really do sound a lot like TW. Even your 'speech patterns' seem the same (minus the expletives, thankfully). One thing, though, we definitely will not know one way or the other twelve months from now. It will take a bit longer than that. | saltraider
02/5/2018 20:41 | Hey Colonic, fill your boots mate, only way is up baby. xx | pediment
02/5/2018 20:25 | Blimey a few buyers. Very brave or a value-trap? For what its worth, I think this is still massively over-priced. Its real value is close to zero in my view once the £150m debt is taken into account. The debt number is the only really certain number in their balance sheet. Everything else is a speculative stock i.e.....could be worth £2 billion, could be worth £nil...current | topvest
02/5/2018 20:24 | "literally doubled" you clearly don't understand either of those 2 words so it quite possible you are a winni-moron. Filtered. | epo001
02/5/2018 20:22 | It is easy to criticise a speculative investment that has gone wrong after it has gone wrong. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. A criticism at time of purchase would be more useful. Woodford and his team would show due diligence, interview directors etc before purchase. Bio medicine is a new area of great potential, but most lines of research will be doomed to fail. Just one big success, that is all that is required. Woodford will be learning with every day that passes in this field. He argued last week that the reasons for investing here were still 'compelling'. I know, 'he would say that, wouldn't he' to quote lovely Mandy. But I believe he genuinely believes it. | careful
02/5/2018 16:56 | I topped up today. There is room for a high risk punt in my portfolio. It is impossible to value a portfolio such as WPCT. I will not sell, in for the long term. If things turn out gains could be spectacular. If not I lose most of my stake. | careful
02/5/2018 16:26 | This is the mistake you thickos always make. If you want to make money on the stock market you buy low, as oil clearly did, and sell high Repeat, buy low sell high: that's how you also make money on WPCT as quite a few of us have done here recently. You Cyclops idiots think that everybody bought WPCT at £1 and then went to sleep, as you trolls did clearly. Trolls, especially shareprophet trolls don't understand the simple eternal truths. I expect quite a few days like this with other shares in the WPCT portfolio over the next couple of years. About six would do me fine, LOL. You trolls go out and buy the c.93 others and with your overweening arrogance remind us hourly how much you have lost even though your choices were perfect. Sooo many poverty-stricken trolls, bless'em. | solonic
02/5/2018 16:06 | Hang on a moment. Although the share price has literally doubled today, in fact in the last 65 minutes, it’s still down 60% the past 12 months. | chucko1
02/5/2018 15:59 | Well done. It is good to hear the bull case for WPCT. | ltcm1
02/5/2018 15:54 | Yes I've been buying sporadically since the beginning of April. Seemed ridiculously priced considering. I would have mentioned it earlier but I didn't want the psychos here to have any advantage! LOL | oiltakeyouhomeagaincaitlin
02/5/2018 15:35 | Well done, oil. Shows what a good stockpicker Woodford is in this field. (Which is more than you can say about some.) Did you have any Midatech shares? | solonic
02/5/2018 15:05 | Here's a tip. Watch Midatech which is one of the smallest WPCT investments. | oiltakeyouhomeagaincaitlin
02/5/2018 14:27 | His record was described as though he had been throwing darts. It takes a lot of skill to hit “1” on so many successive throws. | chucko1
02/5/2018 14:18 | My previous post, on reflection, will likely blow Trollwatch’s logic circuits. (made of lead piping?) | chucko1
02/5/2018 14:16 | 1. I share a number of TW’s concerns regarding Woodford’s weak recent performance and fund activities, though with only a fraction of his certitude. 2. I have a low opinion of TW in general. 1.and 2. are certainly not mutually exclusive, but to read a lot of messages on this BB, perhaps I am in a small minority. | chucko1
02/5/2018 14:10 | And the Winni takes it all... | ltcm1
02/5/2018 12:48 | Shoot the messenger.Buy the fantasy, and deny the story. | wantage
02/5/2018 10:28 | careful - 2805 - this is the question that never gets an answer!!! But ask yourself this. Has Neil Woodford ever had any success in Biotechs and startups??? Is a man who endorsed RM2 pallets at 60 pounds each really the best person to run this fund??? | ltcm1
01/5/2018 20:43 | Woodford's monthly report covering April just released. hxxps://woodfordfund | daffyjones |
