Top posting topvest. If anything the situation is worse than you depict, for Woody has lost a quarter of his money, he's leveraged and he's holding a load of wallpaper which were he to cash it today, would only raise 50p at best.

You made an excellent point back in 2015, which is the fund is too big. And that was before the leverage came into play. It's going to be a messy and sticky end for sure, barring a miracle invention, which I do acknowledge could happen.

Daughter has Chantalle and Pandora coming round for a Eurovision party shortly. Her friends are always wowed by my Stormzy and Dog n' Bone man stories of when I knew them a few years back. It's how I roll. Will be serving Bucks Fizz and I'll throw down my Dancing Queen moves later, which will delight and amaze as always. Ciao.

Troll-loser - topvest was telling you how much of a disaster in the making WPCT was from the start. See post 109 from three years ago. If only you had listened and learned from people who actually know what they are talking about:

"topvest 7 May '15 - 08:21 - 109 of 2977
I've sold mine already as I was never really convinced and their investments to date are very speculative in my view...investors will have to be very very patient!

Real returns are going to take lots of time. This is very much a "getting near to the top of the bull market" investment vehicle in my view and it's size is too big to make super returns.

Neil Woodford is clearly a top investor, but I do wonder whether this vehicle will come back to haunt him. Maybe he should have listed a generalist investment trust first which is what he does best! Sold at 105p and net asset value less than 99p so already well overvalued.

Two or three years off can see this going to a sizeable discount. Might be worth looking at again then."

I have been pointing out the disaster that WPCT is for a long time. Just take a look. When the pack of cards collapses then you will, just maybe, wish that you had listened. Keep losing!

HL have been promoting Woodford for years so no surprise to hear them asking people to keep the faith.

More interesting is to hear of wealth managers actively pulling out it WEIF because of the risky unquoted component. I'm not sure WIFF is the right choice to switch in to though - there are plenty of non-dividend paying stocks in that "income focus" fund for some reason

Well what else can Woody have but conviction? It's not like he can sell the mumbo jumbo he has bought into is it???

Woodford's on the last train to bankrupt central.

In the interest of impartial reporting:

Hargreaves Lansdown’s Mark Dampier is backing the struggling Neil Woodford for at least another three years, saying all good active managers have bad times.
....
Whitechurch also recently bought some of the Woodford Patient Capital trust when the price was “bombed out” with a wide discount.

Haynes added: “He seems to provide a contrarian opportunity and there has been a lot of negative press comments that have weighed on him. We went to see him recently and his conviction hasn’t changed, and that’s what we want to see.”

[Gavin Haynes of Whitechurch Securities.]

Rather than keep accusing that we are TW, which we are not, why not post some facts as to why this toxic vehicle will come good? You can't, can you, as the valuations don't stack up!

(Ignoring the pathetic posters so obsessed that they impersonate the only people posting anything of substance on here.)

Topvest, Eve Sleep is certainly another example of Woody getting won over by flashy presentations. You only need a cursory knowledge of the foam mattress industry to realise it is fraught with danger for investors. The market is saturated with competitors all putting out nearly identical products (Casper, Simba, Leesa, Bruno... They can't compete on product so they competed on warranty. Now they all burn so much money because people return the mattresses after the 100 day trial. There's no business model there. Just sucking up VC money until the test runs dry.

(Now back to your regularly scheduled "everyone is TW" loons)

Eve Sleep looks another example of a company that Woody backed at the wrong time and at the wrong price. What durable competitive advantage do they have.....and who wants a yellow mattress anyway? Another example of sharp selling and nice glitzy presentations and Woody's in big!

careful - you are missing something.

Lots of his businesses (which are sucker stocks) are already valued at £100's of millions and some are valued at about a £billion. They are valued for success already, even though they have no revenue and are burning cash like there is no tomorrow. Most of them have to be a success to support the ridiculous net asset value.

If the portfolio was valued at 10p and had no debt, I would be more inclined to agree with you.

Can anyone name a start-up that Woody has backed that is actually making a profit? No, I thought not!

Woodford explains the trust best.
He has invested in companies mostly in their early stages.
He claims some have the potential to become multi billion operations.
Woodford and his team have researched each company, no doubt interviewing high ranking directors before investing.
It will take years to see the outcome and nothing is guaranteed.

That is why some of us are prepared to wait.
It has got off to a poor start, and leverage magnifies the fall in net assets.

It is all too obvious to discuss.
high risk/long term/potentially high rewards/potentially high losses.
not for widows or orphans.

Gone back through the thread multiple pages and still can't find anything positive or meaningful from the WPCT backers about why they are invested in the trust. Just endless obsessional comments about TW. If they really believe in the prospects for this investment why not actually discuss it?

Well The Kings Singers still managed to knock out some cracking choons!!!

Littleweed health and efficiency is my anchor. Isn't it about time you produced your evidence I'm TW??? I've heard of 'hold the front page' but your inability to come out with a story is getting ridiculous.
