It's really odd how the NAV is increasing so much when the Vietnam Market was closed, It only opened this morning so won't be included until tomorrow.
The pound is surging higher aswell which would make it worse.

That's good news. More than 2% increase in the NAV announced this morning and the index up again today, the VOF discount to NAV is around 7%. Share price reaction a little disappointing.

Zero new cases in the last 24 hours. HCMC have declared the TSN outbreak as controlled.

that is really odd amt as cable is stronger than at 9th but weaker in last few days . A quite big buy at 437 today and somebody has confidence that vietnam market will open
stronger when it opens. Hope he is right and I am tempted to add but weaker US futures worries me a bit .

How did the NAV go up when the market is closed. The strength of the pound would have an impact downwards but its gone up, interesting.
It does say at 9th Feb but why has it taken so long to report. Same for veil by the way.
Nothing significant but just out of interest.
Veil is at a bigger discount than vof now.

In RECENT days, which is all the country and market cares about, we have averaged 50 new cases a day. There are over 130,000 in enforced quarantine. Bear in mind absolutely everything has been closed here from Wednesday until yesterday. There is hope it can again be controlled, but only time will tell and neither I or the great soothsaying numpties of Grimsby can predict that.

WHO stats show average is less than 38 new daily cases (718 ÷ 19) in the whole of Vietnam, since the outbreak on January 29th and way off the peak.

As people pour back to the cities and Vietnam restarts after Tet, we now wait to see if the ongoing outbreak can be controlled. We have had around 50 new cases a day recently and there are 130,000 in enforced isolation. https://tuoitrenews.vn/news/society/20210216/vietnam-to-retest-foreign-experts-who-completed-quarantine-upon-arrival/59305.html

Logistics are a problem given the huge distance between hcm and Hanoi, and poor ground infrastructure. So air freight will continue its strength

"Net income is NOT the same as net profit." With 1,718,368m net income how could there be a Net Loss?

As for the ACV growth rate, that was an analyst consensus number, VOF gave a more prudent assessment showing the range of outcomes. "If we replace ACV’s EPS growth with the market average of 17.7%, then VOF’s public equity portfolio is expected to growth 2021 EPS by 27.6% (rather than 46.7%).

I have no opinion of the future growth but note that ACV saw 247% net income growth in the final quarter of 2020 (QoQ) and a FY 2021 254% growth would still be only ~half the 2019 income.

Vietjet's Q4 2020 earnings were higher than the average quarterly earnings in 2019 despite COVID, they increased freight and other activities. that seems like some indication that they can continue to grow but who knows.

The irony of the numpty gang wetting themselves over my doubts about the current share price trajectory being sustainable, is that VinaCapital themselves expressed exactly my concerns on their website.

Now, anyone care to explain how they will gain 254% this year? Or how Vietjet will continue to grow?https://tuoitrenews.vn/news/business/20210119/vietravel-airlines-opens-first-ticket-sales-after-inauguration/58860.html

PBT is not profit oh, what is it?

It is true that PBT is not net earnings, net income or net profit but since you raise it ACV's FY numbers in million VND:-

Year 2020 ; 2019
Net Income Before Taxes 2,087,649 ; 10,155,787
Net Income 1,718,368 ; 8,201,155
Diluted Normalized EPS 787 ; 3448

ACV made a profit in 2020 whether you look at Gross, Pretax or Net Profit.
