19/1/2021 08:10 | VOF not down in % te | arja
15/1/2021 17:13 | thanks exotic and i just noticed your link above | arja
15/1/2021 15:27 | Yes it's usually 0.5% though there are some exceptions: | exotic
15/1/2021 09:18 | by the way , is stamp duty .5% nowadays as I was in OZ too long to be up to date and will probably return when safer to do so and not have to pay business class on plane , ( wry smile ) | arja
15/1/2021 09:13 | exotic, I know it says 75% lose money which was a big surprise to me as trading CFds turned things around for me some years ago and I only lose when I lose my discipline and stray from OAAT policy . with CFDs one tends to cut loss more quickly than when holding the shares I suppose . can even use a spreadbet to accumulate and hence reduce commissions . That works better with indices . most of my trades recently are with the russell 2000 with .3 spread and really can make heaps with this one . But there is more than ONE way to make mone I guess . have a good weekend and hoping VOF picks up later as vietnam indices were up a little I think . | arja
14/1/2021 17:41 | "So do we always have to pay stamp duty whenever we buy shares? Actually we don’t always have to pay stamp duty for share purchases, because this tax only applies for shares in a company that’s incorporated in the UK, or in a foreign company that maintains a share register in the UK." www.moneyhighstreet. | exotic
14/1/2021 17:35 | arja - 1207 Just noticed the IG Index advert at the top says 75% of retail investors lose money with CFDs. Would recommend you reactive HL and use them or another proper broker. RE Stamp duty, on my contract notes, no SD paid on VOF, but seem to have paid it on Schroder Asia Pacific Fund and F&C Investment Trust plc. | exotic
12/1/2021 14:18 | dam , how do I do that ! just to say probably if registered abroad as AIM stocks will be UK based I guess . | arja
12/1/2021 14:16 | probably if registere | arja
12/1/2021 13:53 | I don't know the detail but because they are shares then SD is normally applicable to ITs. There are some exceptions where the share is quoted on a different exchange such as AIM, Guernsey or abroad. | mike the mechanic
12/1/2021 13:38 | thanks and it must depend on where the trust is registered and this one is in Guernsey I think . I never like financing charges with Cfds which are a real ripoff and even mean being charged interest on your own funds being the margin. I might activate my old account with HL sometime ! thanks again , oh, anyone know a good site giving up to date chart of Vietnam indices as necessary to give indication of next move for a trust although has not worked for me today with FCSS ( china trust ) ?? | arja
12/1/2021 13:25 | I have bought a few other funds recently (past 2-3 years) and there was no SD to pay. GPM, RSE, TRIG, FSFL, (although ANW - Thai fund bought in 2018 did include SD, and also MNKS). Seems no rhyme or reason. | steve73
12/1/2021 12:46 | thanks Steve73 but are you saying NO SD payable when buying any investment trust shares ? That surprises me . I see an RSP trade of 300,000 just went through but might have been a trade booked late . | arja
12/1/2021 12:04 | Funds don't usually have any stamp duty to pay. I just checked back and there was nothing when I bought these. IIRC, there is only 1% SD if shares are listed on the Irish SM... | steve73
12/1/2021 11:57 | oh, I only use CFDs nowadays to open a position but am curious to know if you need to pay 1% stamp duty wen buying stock as it is not a UK based investment .?? Lived in OZ too long to know and expect to return at end of 2021 covid 19 permitting ! | arja
12/1/2021 11:53 | thanks AMT and I will look at the link you post. edging up nicely today and I assume Vietnam indices are at an all time high too or close to it . | arja
12/1/2021 09:38 | Arja. Hoa Phat Group is the large steel company. I think from memory it's 15% of the portfolio. | amt
12/1/2021 09:03 | exotic, thanks for interesting comments | arja
12/1/2021 09:03 | hope so but a slow start and even trusts based on chine have opened cautiously after china indices rocketed - markets sometimes fool us . which steel company please AMT? | arja
12/1/2021 07:21 | A good jump in nav and the steel company up a 4 % this morning. A good day ahead I should think. | amt
11/1/2021 14:01 | I chose this in March 2020 for the Covid rebound, for many reasons, but also their handling of the pandemic, still to-date only 35 Covid deaths in Vietnam. Similar to GSS and FCIT, not only was it quick to move back above pre-pandemic levels, but continues on a steep trajectory making it one of my best performers and best outlook. | exotic
11/1/2021 09:19 | amt, thanks for comments and I decided to edge in on friday but needs careful monitoring I guess as MIGHT be a pullback soon . As Vietnam has done much better than the UK in the battle against covid19 , that might have helped the vietnmaese share market although hard to do worse with the Tory clowns here in charge . | arja
07/1/2021 16:25 | Vietnam revives economy, lures foreign investors and big funds - GulfToday Local fund managers finding it easy to start up new funds, and local authorities closing the market early to stem the rise. The market is still some 50 points below its all-time high while S. Korea and Taiwan are 25% above their previous highs. Hard to believe but the Vietnam market looks cheap relative to those two. | dickbush |
