04/11/2019 10:26 | Recently, researchers have proposed graphene as a base material for transistors. Because of the atomic thickness, the graphene base is almost transparent to electron transport, leading to a negligible base transit time. At the same time, the remarkably high carrier mobility of graphene will benefit the base resistance compared with a thin bulk material. Graphene-based transistors (GBTs) generally use a tunnel emitter that emits an electron through an insulator. However, the emitter potential barrier height seriously limits the cut-off frequency. Theoretical study has indicated that a Schottky emitter may solve this potential barrier limitation. A team of researchers at the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, has built the first graphene-based transistor with a Schottky emitter, which is a silicon-graphene-ger Compared with the previous tunnel emitters, the on-current of the Si-Gr Schottky emitter shows the maximum on-current and the smallest capacitance, leading to a delay time more than 1,000 times shorter. Thus, the alpha cut-off frequency of the transistor is expected to increase from about 1 MHz by using the previous tunnel emitters to above 1 GHz by using the current Schottky emitter. THz operation is expected using a compact model of an ideal device. The electrical behavior and physical activity of the working transistor are discussed in detail in the published paper in Nature Communications. 04/11/2019 10:19 | Thanks Shavian - most are characters from the past cartoons. Some of the team, some shareholders, some visionaries. The two on the fire are tweedledum and tweedledee. Although they represent everyone who is trying to get the share price down whether it because they're short or becuase they are desperately trying to get back in after chasing other fireworks that turned out to be duds. | ![]() rogerthegrouch

04/11/2019 09:39 | serratia - re your 82349: "It's now estimated that reinforced concrete has a lifespan of 50 - 100 years so nearly all concrete structure the world over will need to be replaced this century." It strikes me there's a remedial opportunity here. Finished concrete is characterised by microscopic cracks in its makeup, which is why moisture can get to embedded steel reinforcement and degrade it by corrosion. In applying a GNP infused coating over the surface of the concrete, there is an opportunity to seal these cracks with a hydrophobic layer, thereby extending the life expectancy of the structure. The value of this would be huge. I expect research projects will be under way. (VRS have coatings industry collabs.) | ![]() compoundup
04/11/2019 09:35 | “President Xi Jinping will attend the opening ceremony of the second China International Import Expo (#CIIE) on Tuesday in Shanghai and deliver a keynote speech. 04/11/2019 09:23 | DTaliadores: re recent rise: on Friday a picture from a Chinese article related to post 82383 showed a signing ceremony (on Friday) and there was also a short vid. there were two rows of people around nine sitting at the front (doing the signing) and VRS's Chris (CFO) was in the centre! The signing related to incubation centres for graphene as per recent RNS's. It is believed that this was the beginning of the formal BIGT 'completion' process. Best wishes - Spike | ![]() spike_1
04/11/2019 09:14 | superg13 Nov '19 - 11:00 - 82288 of 82382 While on that Zac topic. FFS ignore the chart bit he did re FDI. FDI are in huge debt and are likely to go bust as it stands. Highly illiquid so I wonder if that was to get some buying while mates exit. ------- I totally agree, Zac shows himself up by such predictions when he clearly knows nothing about FDI and the debt predicament they are in. I wondered about the reasons behind it too! | ![]() andy
