Don't worry. Anyone who is different is a target for the hardcore versarien super g string sheep following. Just ignore them and express yourself however you want

MavFav.My account was dormant as you put it because I had forgotten I was a member here until AVFN emailed me an advert offer today. So I took the opportunity to post about a share that I know something about.Despite being quite pro the company, I recognise that nothing has yet been delivered, but should be soon. However venturing that opinion on this board seems to engender hostility.

I'd like it be a low key event . As to how it will go ? RNS about the investment. For the cognoscenti only . Chest thumping from, our Government, hopefully not.

For interest:

A delegation from Derby and Derbyshire is attending The World Manufacturing Convention this week in Hefei, China - a significant national-level event (20-23 September) at which the UK is the first ever Country of Honour and over 100,000 delegates will visit each day.

Hello Folks,

A small thought I had..

When a BIGT deal happens will there be a ceremony somewhere, UK / China ?

Have we seen any chat about Neill or Chris on a 'trip' ?

Have we seen any press on a China delegation in UK ?

Could it happen 'some other way' ?

roger, to be fair I am not sure anyone can determine success or otherwise against the strategy because the Strategic objectives are not SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely. i.e. The SO that reads "Identify opportunities for international expansion" should have a target (for instance 3 new international Countries this FY)

RTG I completely agree and I'm also perplexed at a person whose using a dormant account. There are those that believe the journey, understand the potential and see a company not taking a simple and easy option which wouldn't be in the best interest of the company or its shareholdersThe same people have taken time to understand the strategy, develop key relationships and attract and acquire people / business that will help to deliver and help commercialise graphene. The same people also appreciate the fact that VRS have had the quality of their products tested independently and by multiple entities and have so far been the only organisation to have successfully pass (yes successfully pass) the producer program again confirming they can not only deliver quality but in quantity too And then there are the others. Some look at traditional metrics, some look at historical ones too but yet fail to appreciate the disruptive tech, the timelines to commercialisation etc. Those same people then feel that they have to spend a significant amount of time to attack the share yet don't do that elsewhere.Me personally I'm in and some are out out If you want to be out out then I'll respect your wishes but I won't try and persuade you to come in. You have to own your own investments I know nooothing

BIGT time soon so no doubt 100’s of posts on the topic when the news drops in.

A for the funds chatting to them it means a de-risking of the potential investment.

I’ll go first...

Let’s take a look at the key strategic priorities for 18/19:

1. In our graphene businesses, our focus is to continue to enter into further collaborations and increase production for those wishing to use and evaluate the benefits of using our products, both in the UK and globally, and in particular with partners we select in China. Our aim is to generate significant revenue from these collaboration agreements.

Versarien has since entered many more collaborations, I’ll admit I’ve lost count. Will these turn into significant revenues as per the aim? If you’ve ever taken the time to look at the contract sizes Aecom deal in, that might give you a clue, but then again, who are Aecom? Besides, Aecom is just one of many global enterprises Versarien is dealing with, add in the auto, aero and textile collabs (including orders) and I’d say it’s looking pretty good. Versarien delivering on its strategy.

2. International expansion is also a priority for the new financial year, supported by the UK Government.

Japanese order, US order, countless overseas collaborations (India, China etc) all paint a very international picture to me. The UK Gov have been extremely useful in supporting this explosive international growth and their involvement shouldn’t be underestimated.

3. We are also keen to acquire companies which would strengthen the Versarien Group and accelerate routes to market for graphene.

Acquisition of Gnanomat and it’s safe to argue the creation of both the US and China entities will accelerate routes to market. Versarien is delivering on its strategy.

Add in all the other gems like still being the only company in the world to have verified Graphene, council memberships and additional cash in the bank, you could argue Versarien are over delivering.

The 1, as you are well versed with the annual report, please could you summarise how Versarien are failing to deliver the strategy? Please be specific, citing the strategy objective

I agree with a lot of what you say. I just know that I do not know a lot. There must be reasons for the timeframe and expectations being adjusted. You don't even know you don't know. You think you know

Roger Grouch, I am familiar with the whole VRS story and all the ongoing collaborations.I also looked at the company accounts before posting.I believe that you are confusing potential with delivery.I am mildly bullish on the prospects of the company, but to claim that there has been any kind of measurable delivery is clearly mistaken.

Club Sandwich, I suggest you watch a programme on BBC iPlayer called China: A New World Order. The 3 part series is very interesting - especially when you watch the final episode! It refers to the Chinese government planting someone at the Manchester University Graphene Institute and how that knowledge is now being implemented back in China. You are probably aware that the Chinese have been accused of stealing the IP owned by numerous companies around the world - especially since Xi Jingpin came to power. With this in mind, do you not think it’s very prudent that Neill is doing his best to protect his company’s IP? I was at last year’s agm and he might well have been over exuberant about the prospects of an imminent Chinese deal. I’m sure with hindsight he probably regrets some of things he said but VRS were riding the crest of a wave at the time and many private investors were piling in. This gave the share price an artificially high value and I actually added at £1.72 after buying in initially at 22p. I think Neill has learnt his lesson and is a lot more careful on Twitter - I believe that is a good thing! VRS has taken giant steps over the last 12 months and the current price is probably a true reflection of where we are at the moment. The Chinese deal or a major deal with AECOM will rightly send this share stratospheric and will finally rid this board of most of its negativity. Give Neill a break - he has done a fantastic job in such a short space of time and will eventually be looked upon as one of the visionaries of our time.

Agreed Roger
We’re all adults if people are not happy with the company strategy -management or investments returns were are all free to invest elsewhere there are no tie ins here .
For many Vrs has already delivered a decent return but they are still invested as they see a bigger still picture and being part of something special .

Repeating the same bile is never going to make it true. Neill is one of the most accomplished and competent CEOs I’ve ever come across and is delivering against the strategy in spades. If you don’t understand the strategy, then I’m afraid that is your failing. Granted it’s a difficult company to get your head around particularly with the backdrop of very complex science. It requires investors to not only fire up those brain cells but also appreciate patience is required. This is personally one of the many reasons I am drawn to the company. See D for Difficult in my AtoZ.

Some interesting speculative links and connections can be made in this FT article.

Edit - The link is behind a paywall, the original Twitter link went to the full article. Basically it is about investing in industries likely to benefit from climate change initiatives and mentions reductions in CO2 emissions from light weighting and cement. There is also an F1 link with an angel investor who was a Williams exec.
