Final observation pshevlin is don't confuse noise / progress of global lithium ion battery manufacturing scale up of existing technology to meet short / mid term major demand (I.e graphite based electrodes etc ) with the big change in chemistry that VRS / GNA are proposing with their solution. Hence GNA focus on the new breed of carbon ion supercapacitor players who have less legacy tech and manufacturing spend they need to monetise / change and will be quicker to adapt business to new chemistry and its benefits - that's the place to focus on IMO

Hi Pshevlin - gnanomat are 5 yrs away from "profit" IMO as they are still at very early stages ramping up their people (new cto joined last month), manufacturing process (into next phase of scale up), and then they will need to work through the long new product development process with the major supercapacitor manufacturers + their consortia partners (min 3+ yrs IMO) and with a longer timeframe for lithium ion battery manufactures as the chemistry and things to change more complex and they need to adapt their juggernaught manufacturing process (today they are all about expansion to meet massive grid and ev needs so this will take longer). So during this time as VRS hopefully become richer and gnanomat generate more revenue and we get external research funding then they can fund this expansion and process without dilutive placings. Profit will come from GNA but will come from other parts of the VRS group in the medium term before GNA ... and personally net profit wouldn't be my key short term metric - I would look at cash flows and then the ROCE that VRS can make continuously reinvesting in the business and then the growth rates. Global scale and market share will then generate fantastic profits if we get there.

I have no problem with a discussion, but seemingly taking glee at the share price heading south, or umpteen posts about the so being overvalued do not constitute a discussion.Sure make your point, but not over and over again trying to get a rise out of people - that's just childish.

I'm more interested to know how our investment in Gnanomat is proceeding, i.e. do we expect to be making any profit from the company in the not too distant future? It is really important with the battery technology advancing so quickly everywhere in the world that they carve out a position for themselves in the commercial space before it is totally occupied by others. If I manage to get to Madrid in a few months I hope to visit the factory as I got an invite from Roberto at the GEIC meet.

The most important discussion board is the BOD at VRS, you either trust what they are telling you and pick up the excitement generated within or you don't, they know what the future is telling them, actually it's probably the past but we think its the future and as said before that team is not going to wrongfoot shareholders, if you don't like it it is your prerogative to sell if you do then its wait and see.

Whilst the share price treads water for prob a few weeks, a(very) small attempt at humour:

Regarding the tunnel collaboration with Aecom does anyone believe VRS have any
arch-rivals?

It would be really quite unfortunate for people that boarded this train in the last year or so to get off just as it’s about to pull out the station. Choo Choo Chi China Tooot Toooot!
Note: please excuse ramp, it’s just after last week’s news fest and with the China deal approaching, I find it hard not to get excited. Big few weeks ahead.

What I fail to understand is the need for certain individuals to constantly tell how massively over-valued the share is, or how the price is falling today. They are, IMO, very sad people. What pleasure is there in anonymously winding anonymous people on an internet message board. Weird.

This is a discussion board, so you need a bull and bear opinion to have a meaningful discussion.

Or would you prefer an echo chamber? And if so, what value would you derive from that?

Grabster 75448 date of AGM

Neill indicated to me last month that he was aiming for 24 Sept but it was not yet certain because of venue availability issues.

I had asked him because of adjacent holiday plans, and because we are getting together with some others to make an occasion of the event. One flying in to Glos airport and another couple threatening to sail up the Gloucester canal and moor up at the Quay alongside Sainsbury’s!

I’ve seen punts in my time and this is clearly not a punt. If it were, I would not be spending my valuable time watching in awe and learning about an industry in the making and what will be seen as the beginning of the 4th revolution. We are at a tipping point and change has to occur now. The worlds population growth and climate change will force our hands and radical steps are required. Whether one likes it or not it isn’t the powerful and dominant that change the world its the quiet, the subtle, the ingenious, the philosophical, the inspirational and the forward thinkers. The powerful may be the catalysts to change but the havoc and fear, the wars and the slaughter that they deliver does not promote the might of human kind into carving out another chapter, it’s just part of mankind’s evolutionary change and part of our DNA. Science and technology is the foundation of our development and our future.
The world has always been a dangerous place and with the development of fast and furious communication the natural abundance of oppression, fear, prejudice and control is more apparent. There are always those that demand power and effect a new cultural movement, often empowering the more populist of views or the doctrines and beliefs craved. It will once again, should all things be equal, see step change in development so that the natural selection and will to survive will bring about the leap for mankind and unstoppable change. The nano materials, the manufacturing, synthesising of different chemicals and materials will change everything from the basics of the sustenance of life and the way it’s lived to the art of reproduction. Human nature and learning will move on unabated. The structures may change but will and the endless pursuit of whatever might and can be achieved will continue unabated. I believe that graphene and other materials will be part of this future, however it may present itself.

I’ve been (mostly) a lurker on this board for a couple of months.

I don’t blame anyone for bailing out, or re-evaluating their exposure to VRS, although it does seem to be a pretty strange point in the cycle to do so. It’s an unprofitable AIM Listed stock, so you either buy in to the story or you don’t.

Personally I’ve been invested for c18months in a modest way. I have a significant SIPP, which I leave to the professionals to manage. For Me and Mrs Faz57 I manage our ISA and non-ISA portfolios, of which c5% is invested in VRS, and is what I regard as a punt. If it comes off great, if it doesn’t, I’ll survive. I worry for those who have gone “all-in” on VRS, unless you’re around 25 and have plenty of time left to recover - although I admire your chutzpah.

What I fail to understand is the need for certain individuals to constantly tell how massively over-valued the share is, or how the price is falling today. They are, IMO, very sad people. What pleasure is there in anonymously winding anonymous people on an internet message board. Weird.
