Dear oh dear horndean. you are trying so hard and for that I give you 10 out 10. Your self righteousness is noted. However your attempts to destroy value are falling on deaf ears. You may find easier pickings elsewhere.

It has taken taken two weeks since Versarien (VRS) announced the appointment of Patrick Abbott as Vice President North American Operations, for his ongoing criminal case to be disclosed, despite it being widely publicized here and elsewhere. Presumably this has been dragged out of the company by some grown up at NOMAD Canaccord.

Even so, today’s announcement is a little short on detail. Given Abbott’s background as a marine, investors might be forgiven for assuming it might be about a punch up in a car park.

In fact, as we know, the case involves the alleged theft of around $150,000 and Abbott has had to post bail of $20,000 and surrender his passport. Furthermore, court papers lodged on 26th March show that the state prosecution is going for a custodial sentence and “considering additional charges”

That the company claims to have only recently become aware of these matters suggests that they were not disclosed by Abbott at the time of his appointment which makes the decision to stand by him extraordinary.

Even without these revelations, due diligence into Abbott appears to have been non-existent. His biography on the National Graphene Association website, (where he, along with Neil Ricketts, is an advisory board member) introduces him as CEO of Advanced Graphene Solutions, a company that also appears to be non-existent. He also claims to have sold Global Marketing Empire Solutions, which seems to have been the vehicle for his alleged fraud, and which he set up after being fired from the similarly named Marketing Empire Solutions, and yet he is still listed as CEO on the website.

Indeed, a cursory glance at the website: globalmarketingempiresolutions.com ought to be enough to convince anyone with half a brain that the guy is a complete fruitcake. (I recommend the testimonials to him at the bottom as being particularly unhinged).

To the cult followers, this stupendous lack of judgement on the part of Ricketts is doubtless small beer given that Versarien is the first company in the world to have paid the expenses of a free -to join- web community named the Graphene Council to accord it “Verified Producer” status. The suggestion that this somehow means that Versarien’s Nanene is now the gold standard of graphene and all the rest are not the real deal is ludicrous.

Sooner or later the stream of MOUs, trade show appearances, vague accreditation, childish tweets and podcasts will have to be backed up by commercial sales with real numbers attached. Until this happens a market cap of £180 million is as crazy a Patrick Abbott bio. Stay short.

I have not filtered Rainbow or spid81 for the simple reason that I do not think it's right that their dribble is not challenged. Otherwise, their posts could stand as fact. Those in the know and who realise what they are up to fully understand that Rainbow and spid81 are here to make profits by shorting.

Well, yesterday I put a buy order in for 115p, not really expecting it to be filled but there in case it was. Well done HL for getting me them at 114p while I slept, blissfully unaware, and thanks Tim Wonnifroth and co! It's not a lot, but I like it. The dividends off those should pay for some pizzas from an establishment with 5* food hygiene in years to come.

Good luck duckies. Now come one Neill, pull their shorts down!

Good point Bill.

However, looking at his history it does look like he's as ruthless a businessman as Neill. If you consider that Zina said in her interview last month "that there are now hundreds of companies in the US making grapheme", but VRS is the only accredited company, there is a huge immediate market for VRS. When this blows over, as it inevitably will, good things will happen whoever's at the helm in the US.

Just think of it as a buying opportunity. :)

harrysol,

so right. Maybe the last throw of the dice by a whole load of spivs and deceitful people looking for short term gains. The lowest of the low and not to be entertained in any way. Interesting that some of them have incredibly shady financial histories themselves. Some of them have been struck off financial bodies. I even heard a rumour that one of them claimed unwarranted state benefits whilst in full employment.

I said a long time ago that one of the marks of a great manager was the quality of the team he built around him. Abbott seems like a classic example of poor practice.

And before anyone gets on his (or her) high horse, let me point out that the real problem with PJA is not that he has pending accusations of criminal activity (although that certainly doesn't help) but that he's a bit dim.

Take the first page of his preposterous website: Apart from the fact that it's using a logo for a different website - one without the 'Global' - it headlines the following:

"Imagination is the only weapon against the war of REALITY?"
Lewis Carroll

The quote is of course gibberish - weapon against war? And why the question mark? The correct quotation is:

"Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality" - no caps, no question mark.

This version at least makes sense, although why a supposed sales executive should think that warring against reality is a good idea, eludes me. Perhaps he's facing a reality he doesn't like?

And finally, the quotation isn't from Lewis Carroll at all, but from Jules de Gaultier ;¬) So the very first page of this site is a clear self-penned warning to treat the owner with great caution.

Scrutable - before you get too carried away in your Chinese eulogy, you should read this: I wonder if any of Rickett's Chinese friends gave him a shiny new Huawei laptop to celebrate their exchange of cigarette cards?

On which, congratulations on that last card - a great addition to any collection! And rare, only one in existence! Meanwhile the Chinese friends continue to sell 'graphene' by the ton. How can that be? VRS should sue them for misrepresentation! Although I fear that all the cigarette card agreements being written under Chinese law might make them somewhat difficult for a tiddler like VRS to enforce :¬( It's a tough old world out there...

"I don’t think it matters overall, but why did neill say he knew and then say he just found out?"

That's why I'm asking if we are sure if it is the allegations we are already aware of that the RNS is referring to?

I don't think it matters overall, but why did neill say he knew and then say he just found out? I probably wanted to stick up and show unity with his newest employee. At least he has him on probation, I don't care if he has a history, we all do, I just care about his current and future performances

Are we sure that this relates to the same allegations that are public? Anyhow, it's one man that has been in employment for a matter of weeks, hardly worthy of such an impact on a company that has been developing for several years with all of the other positive news releases to show.

Rainbow - your words fall on deaf ears. Everyone here knows that your as shorter. VRS are the first graphene producer in the world to have received any accreditation. What you say is just nonsense and dribble. I predict the VRS share price will hit £2 if not more when the first big order comes. As the collaborations mature, the price will sky rocket.

I thought Neill said when questioned about this last week on Twitter that he already knew about this at the time they engaged him...the RNS says they only just found out?
Always looked like fake need to me anyway.

I forsee within a week or two news of a stonkingly good deal for Versarien, which swamps today's little story.

I was able to top up at 114.85p earlier today - and even if the share price falls significantly lower than that in the next few days, I am still pleased to own more shares than I did two days ago and happy to hold ahead of some seriously good news that I am confident is imminent ;-)

Today's bout is just a little warm-up match ahead of the main event. It will be forgotten once the bigger match is under way.
