Great potential here, 2019 looking an exciting year. Aimo. Dyor. 03/2/2019 20:02 | maisto, yes indeed it is true that it is not by just being a graphene producer that Versarien will become the multi-billion company we envision. Even producing the best graphene platelets out there is not enough because given enough time others will be able to do the same. However, as mikebrenner just pointed out, producing high-quality GNPs in bulk could be very profitable in the short-term (1-4 years) while margins are high, if there is the demand for it that is. But for the demand to be there, it is essential that companies and universities understand the importance of quality when it comes to GNPs bringing value to their application. I think the VRS team is doing a great job on the corporate front, but it is maybe missing out some with universities... I have talked to a lot of people using graphene in academic research and nobody so far had heard of Versarien, 2D-Tech, or Nanene. Maybe it is not so important, but having researcher use VRS products does put the name out there in papers and at conferences. Anyway, I digress. In the long-term, the value and money will definitely be in the transformation and incorporation of Nanene and other 2D-materials into specific applications. Because it is not only a matter of what material you are using, it's so much more complex than that, it's which material do you need for your specific application, how much of it do you need, how are you going to mix it, how are you processing it, etc. Versarien will bring the know-how and manufacture materials tailored to the specific need of each client, be it a polymer, a ceramic composite, a membrane, a semiconductor, a sensor. Who else has the vision of Versarien having several arms, one for each industry or application it is servicing? Versarien Energy, Versarien Aerospace, Versarien Construction, Defence, Healthcare, Optoelectronics, Sports, Water filtration, etc... When we are there, we'll have to say Sir Ricketts and we'll all be very rich... one can dream :) | ![]() mryl | |
03/2/2019 19:57 | Indeed, because this idtech report from 2015 doesn't even mention chinese firms in supercaps sector ? 03/2/2019 19:36 | Here's latest id-tech report on supercaps - just intro. Looks like the chinese are gearing up to replace foreign firms according to them ? Looking a clever play by neill and co. Aimo. Best ellis "After a couple of years of stagnation, the supercapacitor industry is showing renewed signs of market penetration, mostly in the automotive sector with the adoption of start-stop supercapacitor technology in the US by General Motors and Mercedes. Supercapacitors are also becoming the dominant technology in large wind turbine pitch control applications, and the global uptake of wind renewable energy will favour the growth of supercapacitor technology. As a matter of fact, the grid market which includes wind turbines, grid energy storage and rail wayside offers opportunities for growth for all players. At the same time, many new applications are opening up with the lower-end electrical engineering applications at 1-400 Farad being a new focus. Chinese supercapacitor manufacturers are emerging and potentially displacing western companies domestically in the following years. The supercapacitor market in China for non-Chinese companies is now highly uncertain and they look to diversify out of the Chinese electric bus market and into emerging segments such as grid. China has recently reversed its policy on traditional hybrid vehicles, declaring that in 2030, 30% of cars made would be hybrids that do not plug in. The railway regeneration business in China generated the world's largest supercapacitor order in 2015 and it is expanding geographically there. Lithium titanate batteries are the main competitor of supercapacitor technologies, first in automotive and recently in energy harvesting for IoT applications. Hybrid Li-ion capacitors also have the possibility to capture market value in areas where high power is still paramount, but some extra capacity is desired too..." Read more at: | ![]() ellissj |
