06/10/2018 22:44 | I just did a search on the words China and graphene. The first hit was this which sums it up nicely. The hype around graphene comes as China lacks a clear standard for the material and related applications, according to experts. ... “Graphene has to show its extraordinary qualities when added to improve existing material,” he said. “The thin graphite sold in the market cannot be called graphene. | ![]() superg1

06/10/2018 22:14 | I think having LOIs with one or numerous Chinese entities is likely leverage enough for a visit to the states at this time - I'm sure Neil can leverage that fine without putting our IP in undue premature danger - he can spin it along for a while yet as far as I'm concerned - Got to be belt and braces on that one | pcjoe
06/10/2018 22:07 | Chill pill good points. It does seem tobe the focus though, if we can't get it done it may affect US as Neill has admitted wanting to use a China deal as leverage | ![]() sonsonnyjim
06/10/2018 21:28 | The stockmarket historically does not put too much value on a contract out of China. One of the same magnitude with a leading Western company has a much greater impact on valuation. I see Chinese/UK Govt relations have just taken a bit of a bit with the FT Editor being refused a Visa to HK. It good that VRS have lots of irons in the fire and not hanging their hat on a Chinese deal. | ![]() chillpill
06/10/2018 17:41 | SG, re your comment on my thoughts that the initial scale of a China deal may not be as overwhelming as we might hope and so may not immediately have a big impact on the share price I must emphasise my focus on "initial". And I referred to a subsequent build up, perhaps quite fast. I share your view that the overall scope of any deal that Neill is likely to sign will not be of low value! I've no doubt it will be at least good and likely very good for the company and shareholders. But the Chinese may not wish to sign in blood for the whole of a wide-ranging medium/long term arrangement before there is anything operational and satisfactory on the ground. So I can envisage an initial core deal signed off for a significant size - certainly not minor! - with lots of projected extensions. Those on, say, a MOU basis subject to terms about satisfactory operation and output from the initial stage. The partitioning of any JV structure could also be dependent on progress. I'm very confident that anything Neill signs will be rewarding both near term and long term and, rather importantly, be business that he knows VRS can implement and carry through. Lots of UK support from our people in China will be available to underpin the wider matters - DIT's purpose. In my post I suggested that the agendas and priorities of VRS and our Govt. may not be identical. Closely aligned of course, but one point of difference may centre on what financial return we get initially. (Assuming we don't get "the lot"!) We of course want that to be very substantial and as much as possible - else no deal - whereas the Govt. primarily "want a deal", and will be less concerned about maximising the size of any initial payment. And they are able to exert some pressures! You may not know as much as Neill and I know far less than you, but hopefully we will both know more very soon - Monday?! Roll on a really big deal! | ![]() hew

06/10/2018 17:02 | Don’t know why people seem so apprehensive about the Ian Cowie article reputedly coming out tomorrow. The assumption seems to be that Cowie is a typical ignorant hack seeking to write negative articles on any British enterprise. In my experience this would be a misconception, as most of his articles are wide-ranging, Growth-orientated and positive about British companies. Let’s hope he sticks to this theme for tomorrow. Having now spoken with NR he has no excuse for getting it wrong. | ![]() shavian

06/10/2018 14:05 | Suspicions in posts long back becoming reality Pc. Haydale made the forecasts and haven’t hit them. Very few do. All forecasts do is serve an agenda for those that insist on them. VRS won’t do one for graphene as it would be fiction. It could be well over the actual or way under. We seem to be back on China talk but I think short term futher material news re Aecom or Axia could be big. It was quite clear that VRS staff were buzzing re the potentional re Aecom. | ![]() superg1
