30/8/2018 15:42 | ".. For the CFO it would have stung taking on Matt and the salary connected..." superg1 -- I thought Matt and Peter salary was being paid by the government (ie, you, me and other taxpayers), and Versarien pick up the expenses tab only. | grabster

30/8/2018 15:36 | On shelf life and distribution of product. I have just returned from a holiday in the Emerald Isle during which I enjoyed a visit to an oyster farm on the west coast. A significant take-away from that (besides discovering that oysters are really rather a nice treat - OK, I'm not inviting a marmite debate) is that the success of the business is hugely dependent on an efficient delivery system. Oysters don't have a shelf life as such but they must be alive at the point of consumption. I learned that up to 12 days is not exceptional from the time they are taken from the water and handling is fairly critical but the objective is to get them to the customer within 48 hours. While I was at the farm, a courier arrived to collect the day's harvest and our host observed that they could be headed for Shanghai or some other far flung city and he was confident that they would be on a table within the target time. His business depends on reliability. Oysters are not heavy. The weight per unit packed volume may not be as low as Nanene but given the low density of oysters arranged carefully in polystyrene boxes can be airfreighted half way around the world very quickly and still be served up at affordable prices in distant restaurants, why would not Nanene qualify for the same method of delivery? Is there any absolute need to have local manufacture of Nanene before the demand rises above a few kilos per consignment? Would this not be the best short-term solution to the security of IP conundrum? Against that of course are the financial incentives that are being waved at VRS - e.g. a £55m seed funded factory with a view to major investment to follow. Tempting. Forget the "38,000 barrels volume per ton" bandied about a year ago. We have since recalculated that the actual volume per unit Nanene is not anything like that large. For a high margin product like Nanene, at what point is it no longer economically viable to use the very well-developed airfreight logistics system that spans the world? At what price does it become worth risking theft of IP? | compoundup

30/8/2018 15:31 | I have been mulling over yesterday’s VOX blog. Justin, who owns VRS shares, steered the discussion towards a more general debate on where VRS was heading, rather than sticking just to the export RNS. Neill’s response on branding of Nanene was actually very exciting. He clearly sees the approach as very powerful, particularly since he has ambitions for 2D Tech to become part of the Nanene enhanced component manufacturing value chain. Where is his thinking on ink branding I ask myself? | ridicule

30/8/2018 15:21 | I'm not one for saying China news, but I just feel from knowing how they keep the purse strings tight that something seems to be brewing. For the CFO it would have stung taking on Matt and the salary connected. So why Peter shortly after??? and the 3 others. It must be due to demand. NR did say his work had tripled since Matt arrived. NR in the podcast more or less said they are now starting to turn some away. Probably based on working out who is in 'look see' nosey mode rather than keen to create progress. More interest now than previously. That's the big company news effect we said would trigger others. 1 has become 24 so potentially any one of 24 could become news. I'm not into lane changing, especially when the VRS barometer needle seems to be on the move. | superg1
30/8/2018 15:15 | Indeed grabster, but it must be hard to read charts on a such as news productive share as this is ? Hence my earlier comment re nic. What price target applies now since 180p ? Usual metrics don't apply here according to discussion on the last justin and neill poddy. Finger in the air job ? Take note sonny ! ;) thankful for hard working vrs staff here. Aimo. 30/8/2018 15:05 | Another alltime closing high on its way today? Shorters with open positions will be so not pleased that the latest half-month upsurge has not triggered a retrace. | grabster
