NR has pretty much confirmed the idiot posting figures yesterday is speaking rubbish and those that jumped in on the FAKENEWS that was being spread will learn a lesson to read the forums to recognise that we all knew it was rubbish. If the share price falls today, take it as a lesson to RESEARCH.

Without s seller in play, maybe we would have seen a rise in the share price friday lunchtime; just as we saw falls in haydale and directa at that time ? Mondays news looks very encouraging for uk graphene industry, and i imagine vrs are sitting pretty regarding the new standards service/register. I wonder who can supply the unbreakable mobile phone screens, just one example cited by the attending minister ? Aimo. Glalth. Best ellis

Most PI's, me included, have our shares held in nominee accounts, like HL, TD, or Interactive Investor. They look like institutional holdings, but they are not.2% of VRS is held by me and my two friends!But... they show under nominee accounts.

How did you come to that figure it's way off imo.

There are two funds known, Miton and Herald they cover less than 10%, how much less is for individuals to work out. NR has about 10%+.

SG - agreed that most likely scenario is seller has finished or raised sell price.

1teepee - I think it’s higher than 30% but most accessible shareholder lists are very out of date so difficult to tell how much more.

I don't think the rise has anything to do with shorts closing. Singer has been getting a supply for weeks.

One MM picked up 300k yesterday. Singer were on the offer yesterday and most of today. The 250k total buy appeared and took out the singer stock. Then we quickly saw that the other MMs had no stock either, so the share price went up.

Keep an eye on singer. I've been saying it since the last week of May. The supply will run dry at some point if not already.

I don't believe any shares are in loan in the normal way.

The way it's done on VRS is via the SB companies. Of someone goes long then the SB company can/will loan out your shares for someone going short.

The issue for shorts is that it is unreliable as if a big long closes out it can force them to close too.

I rang IG to check the scenario above.

Certainly is; and the Minister is amongst the landslide of pro-active voices who genuinely believes in graphene and ODI.

It’s possible seller recalled shares on loan to shorters who then had to close out hence share spike.

New national service will accelerate UK’s graphene industry

This is probably where Neill was the other day,

Speaking at the event, Graham Stuart, Minister for Investment at the Department for International Trade, said: “As an international economic department, the Department for International Trade is promoting the very best of British expertise in advanced manufacturing. By making an unprecedented commitment to R&D, we will guarantee that British companies are at the forefront of manufacturing and design for years to come, creating global demand as well as British jobs and prosperity.”

Andrew Pollard, NPL Science Area Leader of the Surface Technology Group said: “Now we can take the next step. Introducing this unique service, alongside the development of international standards, to the UK’s emerging graphene economy will accelerate the commercialisation of next generation technologies here in the same country the material was first isolated, enabling graphene to go from the lab to the market”.

Apologies if already posted

and the spread on this stock doesn't help them.. especially when spreadbetting firms add in their own percentage.

Lucky - agreed but shorting for PIs is in general a riskier and an expensive game to fund these days, therefore time horizons are shorter. The grab a quick turn and run mentality is the only realistic game in town for shorting, hence the regular doom posting.

Hedge funds and IIs can be more sophisticated with shorts but they tend to stick to expensive maturer companies rather than high growth prospects. That’s not to say IIs won’t short high growth companies but simple DD would reveal the risk reward for shorting VRS is all wrong at the moment.
