The VERGE vlog linked here recently on "Why graphene hasn't taken over the world...yet" throws up a name that I haven't seen before among competitors in the race to commercialise, namely Vorbeck (about 4 minutes in)

Vorbeck isn't among Mike Brenner's list of competitors in the header article. Does anyone know enough to say whether they should be?

Their website is fairly obscure and there doesn't appear to be any published specification for their headline product "vor-x". Has anyone been able to determine whether they are serious players? The excerpt from the above video comes over as a typically American can-do sales pitch that is not backed up with evidence of any collaborations/deals.

I like the bit where he lifts up a 30 gallon bag of graphene weighing 1.5 kilos. If you assume it really is filled with FLG at $100/gram, I'm not sure you could afford to leave it sitting in a warehouse for very long. Perhaps it's just filled with feathers.

Re the Mclaren post. Surely having learned the big gains to be made using Nanene they are going to use it in such cars. They have raved about the gains on the Mclaren website.

It would be odd imo to have found something that materially enhances the strength of carbon fibre and then not use it.

As in the article

Once fully operational, it will man more than half (57 per cent) of McLaren components will be UK sourced.

'We are a luxury brand that is committed to investing in innovation, whether that’s in the development and manufacture of our own carbon fibre tubs as part of a new £50m British-based production centre,

Flewitt also discussed a new £50 million investment in the manufacturing of future lightweight technologies that will be developed at the soon-to-open McLaren Composites Technology Centre.

tweeted by Versarien subsidiary Cambridge Graphene in the past few minutes:

"A new printing method produces flexible graphene micro-supercapacitors with a planar architecture"

(Source article was posted end of 2017 - not sure why Cambridge have raised it now.)

pshevlin - companies rarely drop when they announce a maiden profit, however small. This is usually received well by the market and I don't see any reason to think it will be any different here.

There has been little to no buying in ahead of results so I don't think we will see the usual profit taking that you are talking about.

I am expecting/hoping that we will hear a very positive statement on the outlook of the company from Neill and can't see this doing anything other than reassure potential investors.

All in all, I'd be very surprised if you could buy cheaper after the results.

Obviously just my opinion.

Not that point but the relevant company releasing it as news which they would.

It's not news for VRS just good to know that graphene can have a material impact in the health sector.

As I recall the bio involvement news is about doping Gnps with target drugs. The positive and negative charge scenario means the Gnps repel healthy cells and home in on cancer cells which they are attracted to like a magnet.

That article seems to go on about the enhancement of the immune system response.

Congrats to Chris Loftus who published with Ian Dunlop on the "Activation of Human Natural Killer Cells by Graphene Oxide-Templated Antibody Nanoclusters"!

Check the paper out here:

Published on 6th July 2018

An emerging new paradigm is that immune cell activation is controlled by transient interactions between supramolecular assemblies of receptors and ligands. Current immunotherapy biologic pharmaceuticals that activate or desensitize NK cells are, however, individual molecules that do not replicate this nanoscale organization of proteins. Here, we use nanoscale graphene oxide (NGO) as a template to generate soluble nanoscale clusters of Natural Killer cell-activating antibodies. We control nanocluster size and molecular number to mimic reported values for cell surface proteins. These NGO-templated molecular nanoclusters, used to stimulate NK cells via the CD16 receptor, successfully induced cellular activation, indicated by degranulation of cytolytic granules and IFN-γ secretion. Importantly, activation significantly exceeded that induced by the same antibodies applied as a solution of individual molecules. These results demonstrate that future immunotherapies could be enhanced by assembling immunomodulatory drugs into nanoclusters and establish NGO-templating as a candidate technology.

Fascinating - Matt parachuted into VRS by Govt desperate for UK Flagship private sector Graphene Co to succeed - How can we make this happen Mark? Is the question being asked - not quite a blank cheque being offered - But not far off IMHO

Me too, at 124.9p. I genuinely believe Neill is trying to stop Kemp from ruining his life. Results being good but not fantastic in conventional terms is probably priced in. Can't wait to see what happens with China and the next big order. Hard to time buys and I've given up trying to trade any, but flat two days before results seems good to me.

I wonder what the herd type would make of results like that re tests on immune response triggers.

I just stumbled across the paper this morning. Nice to know graphene can have such a dramatic impact for health.

There are so many aspects to graphene and VRS are in most of them it seems.

Just for new arrivals re the health side.
