They have done, Dr Liam Fox just tweeted thisCongratulations to @theresa_may who worked hard to lobby China on lifting the ban on beef exports from the UK, when we visited in Jan and my thanks to DIT officials for putting so much effort into making this happen. Estimated to be worth £250 million over the next five years

The China deal will be one, the Sirius mine in N Yorks another. I have a feeling could be a good time for a top up here.

Lucky - surely the UK need some trade deals sorted before brexit to prove their worth!

'we may be heading into a rough bear market'

and we may not ade, PI's usually behind the curve and it is my impression that it will happen in 2019 if Trump keeps going his way and the Tories do not pull something out of the hat and I am beginning to think that they do have something in the hat, lets wait and see.

Like the China deal, not yet!

Here's the graphene they used. Cvd grown, and lasered to become functional. Says the resultant film can be used to improve batteries, supercompacitors etc. There are ramon tests included for those with knowledge to understand them. Best ellis. https://pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acsomega.7b01853

From the Daily Fail OnlineI can think of one or two ways to make them lighter!!How airlines from British Airways to United go to extreme lengths to make their planes lighter (just changing the paper stock of the in-flight mags can save $300k in fuel)

Fest - IIs like to avoid using MMs and 'lit markets' (visible to all) if they can as it's cheaper and less likely to disrupt the market as buys/sells entered into a 'dark pool' only trade and get disclosed if there's someone on the other side. The II can put minimum sizes and price limits on the order so nothing happens unless the II is happy.

Some order matching systems do allow MMs to participate as it adds to liquidity but it also increases the risk of orders being discovered and spoilt by MMs.

Most orders in dark pools are in the more liquid shares so in small cap world I suspect not that much happens except when there is decent liquidity. If I was an II I'd always try the II order matching before going to the market.

we may be heading into a rough bear market
good news is not particularly welcome then

I'm guessing you're out then for now....

As an investor, I am, like many, very relaxed about the pullback, but nevertheless, I'm gobsmacked that it has pulled back this far, it just shows that the vast majority of the 'investing population' are not aware what is IMO inevitably going to happen here.

Someone, I think it was lovat, asked for thoughts on what could possibly go wrong here a day or two ago. I pondered on it most of that afternoon... I have done the same today...In all honesty, I haven't found a single reason to worry about my investment.

It's very clear from Neill's comments that he is blown away by test results so far...so any fear that the product doesn't live up to expectations is gone.

It's also very clear that our CFO (who is renowned for keeping a tight rein) was shocked by the figures and potential re China alone (and there is SO much more)... he is also presumably happy that we have taken on more staff (great support for Neill), are investing in GEIC space etc, so we can comfortably presume that money is coming in now to pay for all this (Neill has, I think, reassured enough times that a fundraising is not on the cards, though I wouldn't worry at all if there was one...)

Though I didn't need it, I am even more reassured and seriously shocked by Matt's appointment. Yes, we knew that the government was greatly 'invested' here, but to make such a groundbreaking move....and his tweets since his arrival have spoken volumes about his thoughts on where this company is heading...

As Neill continues to say, this company is going to be disruptive...

And if I have to wait a few months, years, to be part of that, I really don't care...

SG - most IIs start off wanting to trade at mid price and hand out small cap orders after the market has opened and settled down, hence the 8.15 start for some.

Mid price is where the off book order matching between IIs happens (no broker/MM involved and gaining a greater percentage of market share). Where off book II transactions mislead the market sometimes is that they get reported 3 times or don't get reported at all.

It's a hard game reading the trade tea leaves!

Personally not worried about this perfectly normal and healthy retrace of a ‘jam tomorrow’ stock, not a chartist but have found charting can work well until there is news, so guessing we still have a bit of retracing to do down to the mid 90s IMO if you look at past peaks and falls. However, I would not think about trading this at all because I believe news could land at any time day or night. The potentially huge rewards from this stock occur in that eventuality. There is actually more risk being out of this then being in it IMO.

Spike,

As you're one of the good guys on here I'll take your word.

Clubbie lad, you're on probation and to show there's no hard feelings I'll get the drinks in when we meet.

sandbag, you are doing clubby an injustice. He is a reformed character (seriously), he has grasped the long time horizon requirement for some of our collaborations, and even more so China.

He does have occasional relapses, but for 95% of the time he is now focused and realistic. You will possibly have noticed that he no longer pesters Neill, and hasn't done for a good while now.

Take him of filter - you can always put it back.

Best wishes - Mike

As I filtered him months ago I don't know exactly what Club is saying but I can guess. He's harassed NR for months about the China deal. He just can't get it through his head that this deal has the potential to be huge and could be the prototype of others. As well as VRS there are two governments, three languages, countless lawyers and probably a good smattering of scientists involved. It isn't a five minute job and if it doesn't happen in June it doesn't matter a jot. The longer it takes the more thoroughly the deal will have been looked at and a good result will ensue.

No Clubbie, we're not there yet. Now sit back quietly and let Daddy get on with the driving!

The negotiation is still in ip valuation and protection per podcast advice, which to my mind puts it beyond the provinces and into govt laps. But i am only a layperson as you are. But as shareholders we can understand news will become news when it is ready to announce. To see the difference, check out other Aim shares where strategic investments have occured, what the RNS's revealed in way of news, and the effect this had upon share price etc. Thus i am more than content with the strategy and ambition of neill and co. Hope this helps club. Aimo. Dyor. Best ellis

Elliss "We've got plenty to be grateful and optimistic about here, and the company deserves our support." - and the company has my full support? I'm just wondering how long it's going to be before the tectonics moving in the background become obvious...

One thing I'm curious about: if VRS are talking to 5-6 provinces, is that to play them off against each other and do a deal with one (possibly with exclusivity for the whole country), or with an intention of signing with several of those? No idea, but it's an interesting question...

Melf - you're right of course. The deal which we hope will arrive will, presumably, stretch far into the future and establish a long-lasting relationship (we hope) between VRS and one or more provinces of China - a ready market for not only nanene but also other 2D materials as they come onstream (and inks of course). In the long run it won't matter whether the China deal takes 6, 12 or 18 months to arrive. But then again, in the long run we're all dead...

The press release in January said they would complete the deal in record time - but they didn't say *which* record... ;-)
