The thermal conductivity of a neat rubber or elastomer, without any additive, is typically in the range of 0.12-0.2 W/m−K. The pristine nano graphene can have a thermal conductivity as high as 5,300 W/m−K (single-layer graphene) and typically higher than 1,000 W/m−K if the average thickness is lower than 10 nm. By incorporating just a small amount of pristine graphene (e.g., 0.01% by weight of mostly single-layer graphene), one could increase the thermal conductivity of the neat rubber by almost five (5) times. With 50% of pristine graphene, the rubber composite can exhibit a thermal conductivity higher than 500 W/m−K. Thinner NGPs also result in a much higher thermal conductivity for a rubber. These are highly surprising results, which have not been anticipated or observed by any worker in the art of rubbers and tires

GNPs, CVD graphene and their applications seem to be confused either knowingly or unknowingly by many people.

Doesn't look like any thing jkok, could be any one of the group of graphenes, GO rGO CVD GNP, means nothing unless it is clarified. I did have a look on your link earlier but never enough information with Ray, he is certainly getting involved in the nuts and bolts of it but should be looking after Haydale unless there is an indirect link that we are not aware of.

I'm amazed at some graphene things but his one made me smile.

Graphene put into wallpaper with sensors so that when there is a fire the wallpaper detects the heat rising and set off alarms.

Brilliant stuff except smoke alarms that go off because of overdone toast had that one sewn up long ago.

Indeed, that extract could be taken straight from the iso standards intro blurb ! Without specifics, we are into generalities. Aimo. Good evening. Ellis

Ellissj this is an abstract from the presentation. Does not look like GO?

The potential for graphene and other nano particles to significantly enhance material properties has been well documented. However, as carbon is inert and does not mix well with other materials it needs to be homogeneously dispersed and bonded into the host material in order to realise its potential. There are hundreds of “graphene̵7;s” in the market today and all display different characteristics, from flake size, to thickness and chemical groups on the surface and ends to the supply chain issue in delivery of volume at a commercial cost. Some supply may well require scale up and the likelihood is that the volume output will be different from the pilot plant.

Don't think neill was at dubai conf. No sight of vrs on the backdrop promo material. I suspect the 10 producers of graphene to iso standard relates to graphene oxide etc. Not GNP's. Dyor. Best ellis.

If NR is in Dubai do you think they are working together? Tweet from CEO of Haydale. Same message!

One hour presenting today at the Smart and Emerging materials congress! The message was 240 materials evaluated to date and only 10 or so that we know can produce Graphene consistently in real volume with quality and value in accordance with the ISO standard @HaydaleGraphene

Thanks pcjoe, whoever supplied it the results are there on the improvements, maybe better with Nanene?

Anyway on those figures they can reduce the amount of rubber used by 50% for the same tyre in theory . I'm sure that I have seen results VRS related somewhere and will keep looking but I think it was better than 50% improvement in the rubber, just a matter of typing in the right key words!

Lucky - innovate shoes are not using Nanene - I have it from the top - don’t know where they are getting their graphene from but vrs declined to work on that project or with that arm of Manchester uni academia - don’t know why but hanging out for bigger fish/ refusal to grant exclusivity is my guess

1.208 Bn replacement car tyres last year, add new cars, add vans/lorries etc. Market penetration 10% (?) is 120m tyres. No idea of addition rate.

I am relaxed about China, convinced it will happen but the key points are IP and the fact that Neill will be able to use the deal as a template for others either in China or say S Korea, USA etc. This latter point is why it is so important to get the right terms, it creates a pathway to open many other lucrative deals. A few more weeks is neither here nor there imo.

INOV-8 AT THE FOREFRONT OF A GRAPHENE SPORTS FOOTWEAR REVOLUTION
PRESS RELEASE (DECEMBER 6TH, 2017)

“When added to the rubber used in inov-8’s G-Series shoes, graphene imparts all its properties, including its strength. Our unique formulation makes these outsoles 50% stronger, 50% more stretchy and 50% more resistant to wear than the corresponding industry standard rubber without graphene.”

Just a reminder of this press release. This is something they are working on with the

University of Manchester and pretty much nailed on that they are using Nanene.

Now apply that to tyres (50%) and you can understand why Neill is over the moon regarding the tyre application, just put it in rubber and you will probably get similar results

50%?!!!!!!! b

The numbers are too phenomenal to take on board but I'm sure that someone will work it out.

Festario, very glad to hear you were speaking in jest last evening!

There is a difference of course between some aspect of the Jinan deal being unbridgeable and bringing it all down - I don't think that will happen, too important to both sides, too much invested, too much damage for the future - and it being rather tricky for VRS to fashion a deal that kicks off well but allows good rewards and IP protection long term. Easy for China: here's a factory and some kit, now just tell us the secrets!

The high level support of our govt and genuine commitment from the other side are both essential I think. In hand it seems and if matters are actually at that level (lawyers only doing the documentation, not the negotiations) it could explain the relaxed but happy attitudes I saw at the Investors Meeting.

Fingers crossed for both of us!

EDIT PS: And for others, re some previous posts, if anyone did not grasp my meaning, AFAIK no one has suggested the China deal will collapse - certainly not me!

You've got to love these internet trolls and haters. After all, who else is going to think about me, and obsess about me 24 hours a day for 5 years?I see it as a compliment, a tribute if you like. But, in reality it's such a shame that one persons whole life has been reduced to that.

Having read the posts in the link above, it would seem to me that this guy Festario has come from a less privileged background and done well from investing but chooses to continue socialising with his lower-class roots where he is viewed with extreme jealousy by someone in that community, to the point of being obsessional about the need to try and put him down.
