The swift rebound from 60p-97p in March over 2 weeks was a classic V-shape and shows there were plenty of buyers out there to snap up stock here.

You set a price and let the market come to you. Rarely happens instead, as this lot have done, the brokers just keep on buying and pushing the price up. Buying stops and price falls. Simple. Happens 90% of the time with buy backs - all they are doing is letting stale holders out easily. Brokers get their commission whether buy back are successful or not.

No one was criticising the brokers for buying when the price was at 105p, do we all buy at the bottom and sell at the top? However I agree that buybacks are not my preferred way of returning money to shareholders, a dividend policy would attract a different type of investor and fund and display some maturity and confidence to the market.
As for the share price we have seen higher lows for a year now, excepting the aberration in Mar.,
And with some near term announcements due I’m still comfortable here.

Yesterday...Volume weighted average price paid per ordinary share: 97.7937

3p more than today's price.

They should have set a buy price at 90p and let the market come to them.
Instead they just kept buying at whatever price the market pushed them to.
Frigging useless brokers and directors.

Back to trash ?

1. Advair failed ?( Hikma down 3.5% today)
2. GSK proved that Trial was wrong ?
3. Short sellers killing uptrend ?

Any other ideas ? Please share .

Thanks all in advance .

I'm holding 50,000 here and won't be selling any until an offer comes in.
Very good chance of M&A within the next 12 months I think.

New products coming to market soon, currently seating on £60m of shareholders money, a potential payout of $200m from GSK.

It's a way of returning money to shareholders. They have already paid a special dividend and are now in the process of buying back shares.

Q to the knowledgeable - why is this loss making company buying its own shares and where is the money coming from?

see post #9777 for latest submission dates to court. There is no date set for hearing but GSK have filed several impossible dates in the period August-September.

Poor week, down over 6%.
Appears there may be a tussle with Premier Foods for the FTSE250 spot OR both may get in with a market cap >£600M.

Best not to engage! Unusual for this board , most posts have some thought process behind them not just grabbing numbers out of the blue. Anyway back here, not sure I agree that this is highly volatile or that snorters, ( interesting predictive text, think I’ll keep it would pick a share with a buyback programme in place.

No shorting here. Just on the look out for posters who are full of it and not genuine. Simples. See you didn't answer my question explicity. No need now, you have answered it.

Hey Vectura. Who exactly are you? You have come to this and other boards with a complete and utter ramp of this share. Do you, directly or indirectly, receive any payment to make the comments you have been making these past couple of weeks? Just a simple question.
