wad,
I have received the same from Selftrade, and find it annoying. Why should I tell them such personal info? Just because I have bought a few shares through them doesn't entitle them to know how much I am worth and the source of my wealth.

Thanks , I decided to give them a very vague summary , suggesting they contact HMRC for details.

Off topic for which I apologise , but I recently received a very detailed form from Selftrade requesting details of my income sources ,total wealth , claiming it is for money-laundering regulations. I have yet to respond ; certainly not giving them the detail they request. I presume other brokers are not doing the same.
It is not a scam - the company confirmed it is genuine . I am interested in other peoples responses. A thread of interest...

Not looking promising ! I guess it all depends on how long you want to wait and whether you view a market correction imminent or distant.

Well done was collector, I sold at 788.5p to cover a loss elsewhere, looking for a re-entry point not sure to wait to see if it gets to 720-730p?

Hi Darias,
I agree it does not make sense to risk bigger losses to make small gains , but I don't trade with most of my UU holding, just a quarter or so. I do hate to watch a paper gain disappear without a sale.
I won't sell if it drops to 750 , I only trade if there is a profit .
Different investors , different strategies. The World would be a dull place if we all did the same thing.
Good luck with yours.

Hi wad,I am just waiting for the next divi. It sems to me that life is too short for the sort of scalping that you are doing. I like to sleep at night and sail my boat. Just returned from a fortnight in Scotland. Still keep eating the peanuts. :-)I hope that when it drops to 7:50 you take the loss and subtract that from your 3 %!Best of luck.

Remember this post Darias? Well , I just bought them back at 760 . Like I said.
Not that I bear grudges . A quick 3%(after charges) is worth having in my book , if not yours.

I just unloaded a lump at 787p ; I am sceptical about bids and don't see the yield that impressive now at 4.3% . I am still holding a lot and think that I will get the chance to buy back soon. Selling at a near-all time high is seldom a bad decision.

What a truly inappropriate nick.

A yield of 4.3% is not that impressive with inflation at less than 2%.

Trading at near-all time high - they are not even at a year high. Let alone all time high. This share was trading at nearly £10 in 1997.

Wad collector please rename to "Im happy with peanuts".

809 triggered another sell for me. I would rather be sitting on a bit more cash at the moment and I am rather pleased to have hit the intraday high.

Sheesh, what lucky timing, bought 6.57 jan 8th. Looking at the chart that seems to be the exact start of this rise. Such timing ia all luck of course, but nice when it happens.

What's driving it? Rush to the relative safety of a Water utility in the knowledge that Ofwat terms will be robustly in their favour? CS were apparently negative on UK water earlier today. Nomura I think it was came out bullish in the last week.

Perhaps that Consortium led by Canadian pension funds are lining up for UU rather than SVT?

Some of this strength must be the Vodafone cash - combined with the tracker funds having to sell their Verillion shares as they are not London held.
I have a pile of it that I feel disinclined to invest at this moment. A market wobble will likely appear at some point about something!
Glad I still have my main holding here . I think I average about 500p buy in.

Wondering whether we will ever see any of these bid rumours materialise. Was hoping to shift into SVT at 1700p personally. Damn you Deutsche! :)

This ongoing strength in UU is intriguing.

Small director interest

Deutsche positive on Water sector.

Reaffirms buy on UU, upgrades SVT to "Buy"
UU target raised to 1,000 pence (from 800 pence).
