Even after the last few days of quite rapid rises, the price is just back to where it was a year ago.

Agreed.

Amazing what a few bid rumours can do. Last time it was a Canadian led consortium bidding £21 odd for SVT which was rebuffed. Will it be UU's turn this time?

Ofwat came out with a weighted average cost of capital for the industry between 2015 and 2020 of 3.7%, lower than the 5.1% allowed in the last regulatory period but closer than expected to the average level of 4.2% submitted by the companies in their business plans last month.

Moved to a six month high this afternoon ; must be all that rain.

It does show part of the farce of the market - 6 weeks ago is was worth 15% less , amongst fears of over-regulation. And what exactly has changed ? Nothing that seems to justify that sort of value change. Happy to trade on such illogical volatility as much as I can.

Shame about the rise ; I was hoping it might turn into a bigger top-up opportunity. Oh well ; have to settle for a gain.

A year before final OFWAT agreements for 2015 - 2020 but things look OK.

Up 11p as I write.

If people sell UU because Wall St has fallen ,then it is an opportunity to buy UU ! Keep selling , suckers!
Ofwat is rather more important.

The week ahead will be interesting for a number of reasons including:

OFWAT verdict on water company submissions?

Wall St down 300+ points on Friday.

I've traded shares for 40 years. I've seen 3 major crashes.

It's OK, I didn't read it as criticism :-) we all have our own ideas of how to do things, I was just explaining the thinking behind mine :-)

Everyone has 20/20 hindsight, I also have a 3% realised gain for January which has met my target. If the share price rises 5% tomorrow you will call me a fool, if it falls 5% tomorrow you will call me a genius . . . the reality is that I am neither a fool or a genius.

I took my decision based on the available information to me at the time and the target I wanted to achieve, I have no regrets, I achieved my target. If I can repeat this for the next 47 months I'll be very happy. :-)

While you'll never be poor if you take a profit, sometimes you could be richer if you don't.

I can understand that, if you bought in the early £6s then the dividend is a good return, I'm looking for capital growth though not income so I sold my entire holding.

I'm sure I'll be back for some more UU. in the future ;-)

Sold my trading stock for £7. I am certainly not selling my main holding at this price.

Thought we might breach £7 this morning , but looks like there is a resistance to starting those limits with a 7.
Toying with taking a quick 5% on my trading stock from a week ago , but am trying to pair trade it with VOD who have just strengthened a bit. Maybe I will take the cash.
