as long as you're a young pensioner, you won't have much to worry about imo

Depends if the Ugandan farm-down gets resolved this month (management guidance) or stays on the back burner.

That rns was ridiculous, but caused a mass panic by some investors

What RNS?

That rns was ridiculous, but caused a mass panic by some investors. Should bounce back tomorrow morning.

All this nonsense with the legal wrangle, but with no documents being produced...rubbish!

Tullow will win out in this case, with no doubt whatsoever! Upward again in the morning :-)

rockabilly.

Epi.Unfortunately I could do with a lot of advice myself. It just happened that yesterday was one of those days when my shares with the exception of TLW weathered another downturn in the market.I have a mixed bag of shares which seem to continually go against the market. I have had occasions when the FTSE is up 2 or 3% and my shares have gone down and other days vice versa. All in all I am just about managing to hold on to what I've got at present but always wondering what is going to happen tomorrow.
I just hope that all these shenanagins in Uganda get sorted out soon as I certainly have no intention of selling.

I'm holding. PS if this is your biggest loss in your portfolio, two questions come to mind.... what price did you buy at? and can you give me some advice as some of my investments are bleeding useless!

Three year arbitration hmmm.... so does Tullow suing Hoil have to wait for the arbitration decision and more to the point will this delay affect the Tlw/Total/Cnooc deal? I am getting a little worried being a pensioner wondering if I will ever see a profit on my investment.Biggest loss in my portfolio to-day by far. What I don't understand is why has the Ugandan cabinet waited until now before asking all these questions when the farce has been going on since I forget when!.

on the bright side, the continued shenanigans don't seem to be affecting us too much... marked down today on market worries. But still a whole lot beter than we were very recetnly.

For what it is worth, that is exactly how I see the situation eipgam........but this bit also caught my eye...the ringfencing of an adequate sum to pay lawers over an expected THREE YEAR arbitration period......

"The lawmakers have already blocked payment of at least $4.4 million to the legal team which is defending government in the dispute."

Seems to me that the MP/lawmakers don't exactly trust Nyombi, have questioned whether they can win (especially in the UK) and don't want to send good money off to a legal team who are likely to lose.

In order to evaluate the case along those lines in their own minds, they have asked Nyombi for the paperwork and he has refused... for whatever reason. Such reason is likely to be completely different to the one he has espoused so far!

not as sensational as the headline would suggest...

"New US law to expose details of Shs 1.3 trillion Tullow deal"

notwithstanding the capers in Parliament there has been no suggestion that the Ugandan Gvt is going to withold their approval of the hive down

This is clearly the outstanding completion condition and the docs will be exchanged and the money will flow when this (finally) takes place

Arbitration will continue in London on the tax issues

OK. I'll take a pessimistic stance and and hope to be proved wrong. The confirmation of the deal will be announced next week but will coincide with a market slump leaving the share price down 10P.

The Attorney General will escape and seek political asylum in Niger.

I see that there were 1.620,000 shares in the UT auction at 10p higher than the previous trades. Perhaps hoovered up by one of the Institutions?

Hopefully we'll find out soon... for a bit of fun, I'll have the first guess. Hmm.. an RNS in the next few days confirming the deal with Total and CNOOC will give us a quid straightaway. Any indication that we are to come out of the tax dispute smelling of roses will give us another quid.

And then more good news from S America will lead us up to those broker estimates of c£20.

That's why I am holding anyway.

Epi. Lets hope you are right. I have followed this Ugandan caper for nearly two years and it is time it was put to rest so that at least it doesn't affect the share price though it's difficult to know how much,if at all,it has been affected.

Thanks.... my impression: I think that the original story about the deal to be signed on Thurs (yesterday) has a basis in fact, but was obviously incorrect about the date.... perhaps the fuss about the whereabouts of the AG has delayed it somewhat, but by this time next week, I expect it to be completed.

Epi. Sorry to disappoint. I was commenting tongue in cheek as the word "soon" seems to mean something different in Uganda from what it does in the UK.. But you never know it could be true...the share price has just gone up a few pence as I write!

Hi ringer... does your comment about the deal being signed have a source, or is it your impression. I couldn't find any reference in any of the links or on the bb.

Thanks
