Phillis, I admire your... errm... balls!

I find it hard to buy at these prices when I have held for 9/10 years. But I know I should have bought more at a tenner.... cluck cluck chicken! Never sold any though.

Good news eipgam & I hope his conclusion is correct-I bought back at 1004 & banged out today at 1401, simply because the market in general is very ugly at the mo & I will be buying back in when/if this corrects.

Good luck to all.

Tha analyst at my broker took part in the conference call....

a couple of his comments...

The exploration director on the conference call tried his best not to get too euphoric about the potential game changing nature of the discovery, but even he had to admit that the upside potential of the Latin American side of the West Africa Transformational Margin play has been significantly de-risked.

This is a very high quality oil find. There is no water content inside the resource

(The SP) may take a breather before the next potential good news in October with the Montserrado well in Liberia which is targeting a resource of 650m boe.

His conclusion: TLW is a buy with a 1950 target.

Tullow the movie....starring Aiden Heavey ?
Somebody must be thinking of it. Great story: amiable Irish Accountant with NO knowledge of the oil industry, mortgages his house, founds a one man company, flies off to a dodgy Africa State, reading a copy of 'Teach yourself about the Oil Industry' on the plane, blags a licence in Cote d'Ivorie, flies directly to Texas to hire a drilling rig and crew, strikes oil with first well......more interesting than some of the movies I've seen recently !
(Though maybe needs a bit of love interest).

I posted this yesterday, but I think a more appropriate time is now at the weekend. it is an old analyst report, but imo it provides an overview of the area and the players involved. Well worth a read with a glass of wine before match of the day.

from the doc kindly posted by dougdig....

Tullow (TLW: LN): Tullow has interests in various assets within the Guyana‐Suriname basin. In French Guiana, Tullow has a 27.5% interest in the ~8mm acre Guyane Maritime block. In Guyana, Tullow has a 30% in the Georgetown license. Onshore Suriname, the company owns a 40% working interest and a 36.5% economic interest in the Coronie and Uitkijk blocks. Offshore Suriname, Tullow has a 100% interest in Block 47. 2011 will see Tullow test several prospects in the region. In addition to the Jaguar‐1 prospect, Tullow is also testing the Zaedyus prospect within the Guyane Maritime block; the Zaedyus well was spud during the first quarter of 2011. The prospect is targeting a 700mmbbl (P10 estimate) structure (TPHe 500mmbl). We feel the biggest risk to the Zaedyus
prospect will be migration given the structure's distance from the known source. If successful, the play could open up a frontier basin for the company. Tullow is also committed to drilling five wells within its Coronie onshore block. The Coronie drilling campaign is expected to begin in the second
quarter of 2011. In 2008, Tullow drilled five wells within its Uitkijk onshore block; results from the campaign have been reviewed and integrated into the regional database.

From above clippings...The best quote I've seen so far to put things in perspective.

Oswald Clint, an analyst at Sanford C Bernstein, said: "This is very, very, significant. This is a basin that has never been drilled by this industry and it has found petroleum. It has opened a new global oil basin which will be drilled for the next 20 years."
