They'll want to lock in a profit. So they'll be forced to buy in the coming weeks.

Shorts are mostly all in profit, so no great rush to close unfortunately. Bit of volume improving now hopefully some will close as PoO continues to rise.

You'll be glad all those short positions are here. The market works on fear and greed. Once the fear is felt the shorts will start closing. Remember the bottom is in with the oil price.

mcsean2164 - I was just a guess but when you see what's happening nowdays in every corner of ones life and of the world, "no bad thing" is impossible today. Money is ruling the world. Decency, integrity and fair-play are all things of the past. To be "politically correct" and understand the "modernity and the globalisation" one must be a crook.
There may be universities where theyoffers degrees and lectures on "how to be a crook".
"Crookery" is very sought profession nowdays - because too well paid...

What makes you think the mm's would collude with shorters or even have sufficient stock to allow shorters to exit?

Look at the volume today, it's terrible. It's not like shorters are trying to exit.

My guess is Tullow is a geared hedge stock for funds with long positions in BP etc.

for any interested: hxxp://shorttracker.co.uk/company/GB0001500809/all

It hasn't been below 10% since August 2016, so I don't see shorters panicing of mm's colluding.

Do you honestly think mm's are colluding with shorters?

jotoha2 - There were many, too many, who pilled up when the share price was around 150p mark, hoping it'll sink below £1. Now they are in catch 22 situation because TLW numbers and focus are now talking.

The oil price is in charge. Where that goes all the mid cap oilers follow. Look at the charts of PMO, ENQ TLW and then the poo chart, they're all almost identical.

How can you say they will leave with a slight profit , the share price has been halved in the last 12 months due in main to the company getting ahead of itself , now we have bean counters in charge so do not expect to many miracles .

Tullow Oil, the Africa-focused oil explorer and developer, swung to a pre-tax loss of $519m in the first half from a profit of $24m a year earlier. Sales revenue grew by 46% to $788m, but it was hit by impairment costs of $642m owing to weak oil prices. Net debt reduced by around $1bn to $3.8bn.

With the complicity of mm's they will be closing in a slight "profit". So expect volumes to be greater than 12 million today.

I was hoping for more from this morning. Will continue to hold as it's just a matter of time before the shorts start to unwind

Dealy - The shorters have to leave quietly and in order and no panic... They have a gentlemen agreement. Today the volume should be bigger than before.
