Mark..i think its been proven in the last 18mths that the fundamentals dont mean jack. Since these ‘fundamentals’ the share price has been on a fast avalanche to disaster.

Spell..dont you think if they did they may have replied to one of your tweets or one of my emails? We LTH are screwed with this one...we did 100% better with CLNs, huge debt and all time low oil prices. This will be traded from now on btween here n 11p

So there we have it, we tested the levels that we hit on the day of relisting in Jan 17. Quite depressing for people that have held that long and exactly what I feared we were heading to as the year progressed. The good news is we have done it and that we bounced strongly off it. The fundamentals for the company are strong but if the company fails to give reasons for people to by the stock it will be traded purely on technicals like we saw today.

oilinAL - you're a hard man to please - 100% return a year for two years would be five times Buffet's long term investment performance return.

One observation of the last 20 years is how deeply unfashionable long term buy and hold (3-5 years) equity investing has become, despite proving the test of time over every timeframe. Yet, people are quite happy to hold 1% Cash ISA's for years!

There was first support where we hit today, possibly why we have bounced.

It's the perfect storm for some of these O&G tiddlers. It's an out of favour commodity and will only become more so as time passes with the growth globally of the 'green' movement. Coupled with TLW yesterday, I suspect a lot of holders in this sector who also held/hold TLW will be selling to protect capital (some holders in TLW must have taken a severe haircut yesterday). Only news will help here, anyone know of any catalysts in the 'pipeline'? (no pun intended).....

Looks like a reach down to test the 2017 relisting prices, with 10p breached it always looked likely without any supportive news from the company, nearly 2 months since last news. Looking at the 3 year chart a very decent bounce could still be had here. Certainly as oil is looking the best it has for a while with the Saudi’s so committed to receiving a higher price.

Bare in mind also that the management team only get the full performance package if the share price hits 35p, so they are well incentivised for a 4 fold increase from here. They can claim any time from June 2020. The cynic in me feels the management team are more focused on that longer term target the the current near term weakness and suspect They are keeping powder dry for the push to those higher levels.

Its probably easier to work in percentages...17p would mean a 100% profit from here but unfortunately not for many, if any.

nocents - two bag as I understand the term, means two times the original investment back in profit ie the TRIN share price two bagging from today would have to hit 25.5p+

A 2 bag in two years means only 17p here. In 2 years (?). That’s hardly above placing. And well below my breakeven.
The selling here is relentless and as MM points out...we might have been better waiting this one out like odvod. I don’t do TA so have no idea. Just see red numbers getting bigger.

I waited here for over a year, at ars over 2 years, at sdx for 6 months - all based on TA , hur, solg ....

there is not a perfect timing. but it helps to consider so I would not dismiss it easily.

WB has lots to invest so he has troubles to get more precise with his purchases. being small makes it easier to time

Warren Buffet famously said "The market timers Hall of Fame has got no one in it!"

Buying at the very bottom(or selling at the top) is pure luck - like Warren I like to buy high quality value and wait for the market to spot it and get greedy.

Momentum investing proved too problematic when trying to build a large position in a small cap - the price kept getting away from me.

We built initial near 1% positions in TXP at circa 8p shortly after the London IPO without the share price moving above 8.5p. Three posts on the TXP advfn thread in over two months told its own story in terms of interest - particularly when two of them were mine!

JSE was little different - built up 80% of a near seven figure holding around the IPO price immediately following the London listing, using my 75% TRIN sell down at its 16.5p cost towards funding it.

At the current s/p, over a two year view assuming Brent averages $65-$70 - I now consider it an even money bet as to whether TRIN or JSE will perform better.
Can see a scenario based on fundamentals and the oil market cycle where both may well go on to 2 bag by 2022.

Yes I do remember Cape MT although I think they had other troubles at the time (can't rememember what they were). But your point is well made. Odvod's strategy will mean he is unlikely to be out of pocket (as I am) and when the seller has exited he may miss the initial bounce. However, at this point in time it looks to me thaat he has the advantage that some of us have missed.
