The CCG says that too few patients use it and that many who do can go elsewhere for help, including to a local pharmacy, or can call NHS 111.

Sounds like more contracts to come for urgent care and 111 providers.

Riverway,

Read the article, it says they are 100% on the improvement plan and the improvements needed are in non-emergency care.. where they scored 67%..
NHS A&E emergency depts fail to see patients within 4 hrs, patients are dying...

Why wouldn't Wendy and Bob work towards that improvement?
If improvements take place then they keep the contract, if not they will lose it, that's business....

Why have they been bailed out by NHS emergency staff??? They still have the contract and the help, if needed, is with non-emergency areas...

Everything new is tried and then adjustments made.. whether it be new drugs, healthcare or any other project...Should we stop developing new drugs because previous trials have failed?

Wendy has completely turned around the business from where they were just 4 yrs ago and I'm sure will continue to do so, don't you think?.

"While Vocare has 100% rating for handling emergency cases, its scores for urgent and less urgent home visits have fallen as low as 67% over a recent six-month period.
The firm said it acknowledged "that historically our service delivery has not met the standards expected and deserved by people in Somerset" and it remained "100% focused on the improvement plan" agreed with the CCG."

Don't forget shareholders new contract staring 1st December. Oh happy days.

Sikh - the only reason the CCG are continuing with the contract is that it is a major hassle to retender halfway through a contract and in a previous BBC article the head of the CCG said they were worried about winter pressures - ie a flu epidemic.

Having to bale Vocare out with NHS emergency staff shows a real failure on Vocare’s part.

Anonymous gave Urgent care centre at St Mary's Hospital (HQ) a rating of 5 stars

Great service

Really can’t find anything to complain about with this centre. After receiving a very poor consultation in a very dirty and unhygienic Harrow Road centre, I was a bit weary about going to another walk in. But the centre was clean, I didn’t have to wait long - all in all I was out within half an hour - and the doctor who led my consultation was professional, engaged and took interest in my condition.

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust would like to thank you for your positive feedback regarding the Urgent Care Centre at St Mary’s Hospital. The Urgent Care Centre is not managed by St Mary’s Hospital but is managed by Vocare. I have passed your positive feedback to Vocare, but if you wished to contact them directly, please email them on lducgovernance@nhs.net

I guess you guys will just have to sit it out looking from the outside in. Bigger all volume to get it to this price so won't take much to move it back up.

Think I'd rather be on the inside at the moment buts that my choice.

As for old Vocare they may have the same staff but they have new targets to meet and a 5 million share and £1million incentive to help them meet it :-)

Old vocare? Wendy said all the staff had transfered over. So what’s old? Sounds like same management that have failed across the country. Takes a lot to improve a reputation. NHS is bailing them out because they have to for the safety of patients. That’s like paying twice. They will never continue in this way. Not cost effective

gw: 10% of coy is just a little bit too much for me in one put - If you are referencing hoped %age gain I would look to take a minimum of 40% but hopefully 400% (to make up for the minus 90% failures -

TLY already down 44% (26p)bid offer from the 59p offer on 2nd March (first day of dealing )to 33p bid / 36p offered today - OK placing was at 55p so not quite as dire but still a 40% loss. Would probably need to see a minimum of 52p offer to meet criteria after dealing costs etc if bought today .. I cannot see it at the moment even at 36p offered.

You have already said that, but to be honest as you will no doubt be back out when you get your 10% it really isn't going to make a blind bit of difference to the share price wether your in or out. :-)

sikhthetech: Thanks for posting 1919 above - Just what I was worried about - OK I agree probably an inheritance from previous management but surely most of the current local managers are those originally in place shen Vocare bought -

BH and team I would suggest may have a harder job ahead of them than they initially thought PLUS a possible significant increase in staf and training costs. I will need to see evidence of a smarter plan in action, I supect, before dipping toe in here.

Main ones are emergency calls they are doing what 111 was designed for concentrating on life threatening calls

graham,

absolutely... the word 'historically' gives it away ;-)

They were inadequate and were threatened with being closed.
They are not being closed down but getting backup help from NHS..

They are 100% for handling emergency care and now, as part of Totally, are focused on the improvement plan...
Well done BoD...

100% on emergency those are the ones that need hospital treatment the most. That's the problem with the NHS to many non emergency callers sent to hospitals

Graham - this simply isn’t good news for Vocare. The Nhs are having to bake them out...I can’t see the CCG wanting to renew the contract...

'Inadequate' GP service in Somerset may get NHS help

"The NHS urgent and emergency care system will be called on to help Vocare if it gets "very busy", according to the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG)."
