graham, I agree Vocare are a competitor to Care UK... but will they continue to be???

Mears bought The Home Care division from Care UK in June 2015.
BH joined TLY in Sept 2015...

Wouldn't Vocare have been a better fit for Mears???
Why didn't Mears buy TLY before implementing TLY's add and build strategy?

Let's see what they have to say or what their next plan of action is.... I wouldn't be surprised to see another acquisition within the next few months...

By taking Vocare they will be in competition with Care UK. But yes working alongside would be fine as well. A merger with Care UK would also be fine. Would like to see Totally get some bolt on within the next 12 months.

graham,

'Compete with Care UK'?????

No, I don't think so... working alongside, more like... cross selling comes to mind...

LB, the new CFO, comes from Care UK...

Mears plc bought Care UK's Home Care Division a couple of years ago...
Who's Chairman of Mears plc AND Totally Plc

Oh look, cross selling with Care UK... where did that suddenly come from... :-)

"Premier Physical Healthcare Limited ("Premier"), a wholly owned subsidiary of Totally, has secured nine additional prison contracts covering 21 locations around the UK with Care UK."

Remember this isn’t just about Vocare, TLY are building a portfolio of companies to compete with the like of Care UK and Virgin. Bob Holt has got the backing and as he says yes we will get diluted but he will also attract even more institutional investors as the company grows.

thegrassisgreener,

"The NHS is providing a very expensive hotel"

That's the problem, the NHS IS wasting money due to bed blocking by patients who are fit enough to be discharged but are unable to due to lack of health and social care...

When the medical need for admission has been completed then immediate discharge is indicated. Otherwise the nhs is providing a very expensive hotel. Community step down/social care required but very poor investment over the years all exacerbating the issue.

Up to 8,000 deaths a year may be caused by rising bed-blocking

"The study was observational, so it could not prove a link between rates of bed blocking and increased mortality."

"“Since 2014, the number of patients admitted for acute conditions who were delayed being discharged from hospital have has almost increased by 50 per cent.”

“This creates blockages in the NHS where beds are not available for new patients, and since these individuals are being admitted for acute and often pressing issues any delay to accessing services can be deadly,” he said."

I hear what you say but your better at researching this share rather than wasting time over there. Let them be and if the company is good it will rise if it's bad it will drop further.

Nothing we/you say will change that.

Jeremy Hunt considers barring walk-in patients from A&E

"Speaking to an audience at an Urgent Health UK event in Birmingham on Thursday Thomas said that only 20% of walk-in patients called 111 before attending A&E. Of the 80% who did not, she said: ââ;‚¬Å“Some of them will need ED, but there’s an awful lot that won’t.

Not sure obscuring is the right word, filtering those that don't need to go to accident and emergency. For example you have to book an appointment with the doctor days in advance with us so most people go to accident and emergency just to see a doctor.

LCWA (From RTHM thread)...but thank you for a rational comment

No, in terms of NHS & healthcare, I don't think the biggest issue is overpopulation...

You're right the govn are skint... No one is saying outsourcing everything is the answer...

I think using the limited precious resources, money and healthcare workers in a better and more effective way is the way forward...

I think the biggest issue facing the NHS is lack of GP appts, bed blocking and pressure off A&E depts...
If there's an alternative to achieve that, ie walk in centres, UCC then these should be used...

It requires a change in people's mindset to change the view that A&E is not always the answer...

What alternative do you suggest?

Sikh. Surely the biggest issue is that the country is overpopulated, especially in the south east and the government is skint. Outsourcing everything isn't the answer. Getting a grip on population growth is what's needed. Simples

I don't think anyone within govn, NHS/Private health companies or shareholders of any health companies seriously believes that the health system is perfect...

There are lots of issues with the ENTIRE health system, from GP to ambulance to Hospital, which is why major changes are needed to processes as well as the way healthcare is implemented...

The govn came up with a plan, inc STPs, UCC... I happen to think it is a good way forward to ease pressure off A&E hospitals and GPs... At least give it a try and iron out any issues before the entire health system collapses and we're left without any GPs....

I went to a & e not so long ago and I must say it was not a pleasant experience. But then why should it be? I have the upmost respect for the doctors and nurses. Be they black white Chinese or Asian. Just my opinion.
