25/3/2008 09:40 | Sven Have you come across any work by Anel Luke ? A friend bought me a couple of her cricket based prints which I think were done in the 1970s - possibly even the 60s - but I haven't been able to find any details of her. | bluebelle

18/3/2008 16:08 | Well they have no choice otherwise the business would not be viable. Don't forget we are all also covered by the Data Protection law - so everything has to be completely confidential. Sheila's work is very nice and under rated too! It is a good price to start at because no doubt she will increase in value in years to come especially since she has been featured in publication(s). | little minx
18/3/2008 16:04 | Bloody tough negotiators and they take no sh^t. | salvador d
18/3/2008 15:27 | 10% from what I have learned is great value, is this the galley that you mentioned the other day that has done really well since it opened and has picked up some really good artists S Meeks included? | salvador d
18/3/2008 15:03 | ...so a case of ART imitating life eh ? | bluebelle
18/3/2008 14:52 | The thought of ART being dead is surely premature. It shows signs of life and has risen today. | shawzie
18/3/2008 14:36 | BlueBell, if you and your friends buy at auction, and certain auction houses have some real bargains (I saw a true bargain yesterday at Barnes Thomas) you could quite easily put it into a gallery at the market rate, the gallery I know would charge you 10% for selling it which is a very low commission. sVendo | sven2006
18/3/2008 11:33 | Hi Bluebelle - Like I say, I'm just looking to value a gallery and thought that a look into some funds would help in terms of market sentiment etc. I can't help, but I note some of the funds I listed are not traditional funds and are more clubs for private investors. You might wish to look into/contact them for advice. | bonio10000
18/3/2008 11:29 | Well it is standard practise for certain types of galleries/museums to be offered works of art on a loan basis. You must obviously have a good idea of what you are buying too - don't forget, art can go down too! Have you ever thought about discussing this idea with an auction house? | little minx
18/3/2008 11:16 | bonio (and anyone else) (Not quite what you asked but.........) ...I had a discussion recently about setting up a syndicate to buy art and may well take it further. The essence of it is that we (the people I was discussing it with) all buy works of art typically from the upper hundreds and to around 10,000 and were looking at the possibility of pooling funds to buy more expensive pieces, principally for investment : we would look to make them available to galleries / museums for exhibitions for example, rather than necessarily having them at home, maybe coming to an arrangement with an individual gallery to have them on semi permanent display, building traffic for that gallery and basing some of our marketing specifically on it. There are some obvious practical problems but I am looking to take it further although as much as a social as a commercial proposition. Has anyone tried to do anything similar ? If so, I would be interested in your experience. If you would prefer to do this off BBs I'll post my hotmail address | bluebelle

18/3/2008 10:16 | Just looking to value an art gallery for sale. There do seem to be some out there if people are interested. Names I have come across are: The Fine Art Fund ArtVest The China Fund (ABN AMRO) Fernwood Sector Allocation Fund Fernwood Sector Opportunity Fund Art Dealers Fund Graham Arader Irvine Collection Fund The Art Collectors Fund Although a lot of these seem to be non-UK so mot sure how easy it is to add funds. Anyway - good luck. | bonio10000
18/3/2008 10:11 | No idea but could be a good new market | little minx
18/3/2008 10:07 | Anyone know if there are any funds that invest in art? | bonio10000 |
