11/4/2024 09:30 | Hard to believe this price drop after the results yesterday | richsawko
11/4/2024 09:29 | So much for my prediction of a quick move to 310!! Good luck all 👍🏻 | tuftymatt
11/4/2024 08:59 | Thanks una! | hazl
11/4/2024 08:09 | Maybe part of the increase profits are due to the difference on prices in what they charge on Supermarket prices and Tesco Express prices - eg 1.25 kilo of maris pipers potatoes £1.35 Tesco Express = £1.08 per kilo where you can't buy 2k or 2.5k against 2 kilo of maris pipers at £1.60 = $0.80 per kilo. | clive7878
11/4/2024 07:59 | But they clearly don't . Food prices have gone up everywhere . It is politics causing this in my opinion. It is the farmers I feel sorry for. The leaders are keen to get rid of them. They want us on factory food. Buy proper food while you can is my mantra! | hazl
11/4/2024 07:57 | I repeat tenapen shoppers could go elsewhere. | hazl
11/4/2024 07:52 | buy - according to Tempus in The Times today | unastubbs
11/4/2024 07:19 | No - Tesco claim to be doing their best for hard pressed customers - if that was true !, with the huge profits they are making, they would lower prices across the board. This would be a great publicity story driving future growth. Instead the board are looking after their own bonuses with a rising share price, brought on buy the share buy back. Don't dress this up as anything other than the usual taking the British public as mugs. | tenapen
11/4/2024 07:02 | I believe you have to look elsewhere for the position we are in. Politics is behind this. Food companies and energy are the result of their interference not the cause of it. Fancy destroying a whole number of cows over in Ireland just because of global warming! That's what I read a while ago. The madness of where we are at. It is politics against the people at the moment , who needs leaders who support the people? We do! | hazl
11/4/2024 06:53 | I have strongly disagreed with johnwise on many boards for decade or more. But he is right on the money with Tesco et-al. | tenapen
11/4/2024 06:43 | Energy companies and supermarkets have been taking us to the cleaners for a number of years now.... | johnwise
11/4/2024 06:42 | People are free to shop where they want. Shops that are more recent ly to the market have not done so well, from memory, Lidl, Aldi. We like Tesco because of their variety and their seeming quality. Amazing how any company making a profit is lauded but not this one! I think the market caught you out and you expected worse. TSCO Has done well. Get over it. imo | hazl
11/4/2024 04:31 | The last time Tesco had a Guvnor who waxed lyrical about, all elements of business being heavenly You know what followed. TRUMP2024 SS | superiorshares
11/4/2024 00:22 | Retail adjusted operating profit5 £2,760m, up 10.9% at constant rates, including Save to Invest delivery of c.£640m. So they're saying retail profits are down £400m without the Save to Invest ? | yf23_1
10/4/2024 23:55 | Greedflation combined with decreasing choice of non-branded items forcing shoppers to purchase overpriced branded and higher margin stuff. Increased Tesco Finest - is that because they keep doing 25% off 3 or more Finest wines to keep the figures up ? | yf23_1
10/4/2024 21:41 | Confirms what we knew that Tesco was taking advantage of inflation to quadruple their profits. | johnwise
10/4/2024 20:07 | The delusional student TROY 😂😂 | superiorshares
10/4/2024 18:12 | A great climb from as long ago as 2018, apart from the drop in 2022, of course if you look at the chart. | hazl
10/4/2024 18:09 | Pleased with that finish. Get the analysts to provide even more positivity and bring in people who are tempted by the dividend, and then momentum likely to continue, are my thoughts. | hazl
10/4/2024 16:02 | Nothing against cash at the moment Guilder. And you might use it to go back into Tesco in a few days having unwittingly achieved a short term trade. ? | helen troy
10/4/2024 15:54 | It's all in SIPP, so no tax implications to consider. I'm holding cash for now. IMO, at this moment, the risk doesn't match potential reward, so happy to stand on the sidelines for a while and see what develops. It just feels like the right moment to lock in profits and change stance (and have some cash available for any wider market correction) | 25guilderbag
10/4/2024 15:28 | I don't go too much with broker upgrades/downgrades Phil and have treated a laughable downgrade as a buy signal. | helen troy
10/4/2024 15:22 | What do you fancy putting your proceeds into Guilder? | helen troy
10/4/2024 15:13 | Its still outlooked to pay 4%+ divi Guilder, and is pretty solid in its business. I'm surprised after 30 years you are giving up, as obviously not a day trader. Good luck. | helen troy
10/4/2024 14:56 | I'm out. Just cashed in after accumulating for the last 25yrs. At this moment, I can't see Tesco outperforming the wider market by any significant margin. It's had a great run.I'm not pessimistic but can't help feeling that there's perhaps too much optimism out there. Inflation, interest rates and geopolitical uncertainty all concern me, let alone some of the high valuations stateside. Happy to stand aside for a few months.... | 25guilderbag |
