10/4/2024 10:05 | Here’s your daily snap analysis from Bloomberg UK’s Markets Today blog: Tesco Price Appeal Tesco proudly touts that it’s been the “cheapest full-line grocer for well over a year,” as it retains an acute focus on combating pressure from discount retailers such as Aldi. It’s had some success in winning back market share, reducing prices by an average of 12%. Growing consumer confidence amid falling inflation certainly played a hand in boosting sales and volumes, while greater growth was also seen in larger stores, where prices tend to be cheaper. All this would be largely expected as consumers grapple with the unavoidable cost-of-living increases seen recently. But also eye-catching was the fact they are winning customers from premium retailers. Volumes in Tesco’s finest range rose 9% and the brand recorded record sales over the Christmas period. Tesco appears to be doing something right in attracting customers from both ends of the market. — Morwenn | geckotheglorious | |

10/4/2024 08:07 | NAV Indeed is a good measure but there is the future value which shares are about. People will always need food. Tesco is a big entity able to plan ahead, sell it's bank, do the solar panels ,to please Governments as somebody pointed out above. News to me to be fair. | hazl |
