10/4/2024 08:22 | How can you have brilliant results and the share price drops 4p on opening and is struggling to get past 290.Our markets are all a big fiddle. No wonder companies want to list in the US | peteret
10/4/2024 08:07 | NAV Indeed is a good measure but there is the future value which shares are about. People will always need food. Tesco is a big entity able to plan ahead, sell it's bank, do the solar panels ,to please Governments as somebody pointed out above. News to me to be fair. | hazl
10/4/2024 07:45 | Could be we go over 3 today. FTSE futures look set fair, possibly TSCO to head the leader board for once?? I'll be listening to the analyst presentation today, I hope the CFO might be able to comment on the bb and at what point he considers that it no longer brings value. Is there some kind of metric that can be applied to shares to demonstrate that they are still "cheap" (or not)? With ITs it appears to be very straightforward, if the share price is significantly under NAV then a buyback is an option. | unastubbs
10/4/2024 07:34 | Excellent results - particularly on cash flow. There’s a lot to like in the detail of what they are going to do e.g. choosing the next year or so to install loads of solar panels on the stores which presumably will benefit from excess Chinese production reducing prices. It’s the detail of all the self-help issues which I like about it. Compared to other companies, the CEO’s report does seem to have some personal editing and comes across as an authentic style. Only blot remains E Europe, which sooner or later they are going to need to sell or fix. | 18bt
10/4/2024 07:32 | Very nice 😀 Can we break and hold 300 now or will the algo's find something to cause a fall in the price?? Either way you can't knock the company and in time the share price will reflect that. Good luck all 👍🏻 | tuftymatt
10/4/2024 07:27 | Outlook good too. 'Planned sale of banking operations and long-term strategic partnership with Barclays announced in February 2024: · Sale expected to complete in second half of 2024, generating c.£700m cash (net of transaction costs) made up of c.£600m consideration and c.£100m other net cash; planned sale results in a remeasurement loss of £(628)m (post-tax) · Combined with £250m special dividend paid to the Group by Tesco Bank in August 2023, expected to deliver c.£1bn of cash' IMO | hazl

08/4/2024 12:55 | Tesco to publish decent numbers predicts UBS Tesco should produce decent numbers when it reports on Wednesday, according to the analysts at Swiss Bank UBS. Highlighting three areas, UBS is a buyer and expects to see resilient demand as industry volumes recover, sustainable market share gains and a better earnings growth than expected. Driving this will be volume, retail media, cost savings and energy tailwinds. “While we continue to assume an underlying buyback of £750m a year, we see a potential for TSCO to return £1.25bn/yr over the next two years given the intention to return a majority of the c£1bn from the bank or 22% of market cap including dividends.” | johnwise
