08/2/2018 21:16 | truth most doomongers were right, almost, and the doom is in the price now. divi reduced not cut, that should bring investors back, as well as the FTTH rollout. Looks cheap for a national bb fiber network company who keep growing their customer base, private and business. At the end of the day, fibre is the name of the game with virtually EVERYTHING coming down the pipe now, tv, vr, music, oh and Internet. why wouldn't. you. want a part. of that action? | kmann
08/2/2018 20:07 | It would appear there are a few red faces around . 1 RBC Capital who only just upgraded Talk to sector outperform 2. Tuscan fund with their huge share holding . I wonder how come given their huge research departments and expertise they get it so wrong. I would also have to ask how come Exane was spot on and some newspapers were becoming more negative about Talk and questioned the finances. As small shareholders is there anything we can learn from this . My experience is newspapers that try to predict the likely announcement positive or negative just before the results tend to get it right . Investors wary of TalkTalk latest broadband plan . FT. makes very good reading | whatsup32
08/2/2018 18:57 | Quite a detailed commentary from the DT re Talk's Q3 update: | septimus quaid
08/2/2018 15:37 | Now that's interesting, the subscriber to the Placing who took the largest tranche of shares was TOSCAFUND , taking another 37.4million shares. This means that following the Placing, ToscaFund have significantly INCREASED their late December 2017 stake of 10.46% swiftly to 11.88%. ToscaFund have rapidly become the 3rd largest shareholder: Dunstone 28.51% Invesco AM 13.73% ToscaFund 11.88% Ross 11.59% For ToscaFund to go from 5% two months ago to a major holding of 11.88% is not to be ignored. ALL IMO> DYOR. QP | quepassa
08/2/2018 15:30 | Looks like ground to me, i sold at 210 (did try to warn others), but todays news is a fantastic landgrab oppertunity, i like it. Directors/major shareholders commiting serious money too. If you load up quick enough you could make 40-50% in the next few weeks imo. I can see this getting upgraded. BUY 200p | kmann
08/2/2018 14:46 | My thinking is that the placing effectively puts a floor of 107p under the share price so just bought some | paa65
08/2/2018 11:25 | bullet ant 8 Feb '18 - 09:28 - 2584: Anyway I may close my short at 77.7p. Hope this helps RLOL - the low was 98.7p and the current bid price is 107.7p. Hope that helps ! | masurenguy
08/2/2018 11:19 | I agree the market is tough, same old, same old, scrabbling around for a limited number of customer churnees. The main opposition (Vodafone and BT) is heavily unionised with expensive legacy staff costs, plenty of debt and crippling pension liabilities. All this in a highly regulated market (a market where the regulator is supposedly obliged to encourage competition). You’d, maybe, think an outfit like Talk would thrive in such circumstances? The FTTP is an interesting development as BT wrestles with its technologically redundant copper wires. What’s gone a bit quiet is last year’s fine (compensation) levied by ofcom on BT for anti-competitive practices. | septimus quaid
08/2/2018 10:55 | For me it depends on the performance of the business in recent years, this one has performed very badly so for me debt needs to be relatively low, 300 - 400 million would be comfortable for me in this sector. For the record the share price may well go up in the next 6 months as they are taking some small steps however that doesn't mean long term this will prosper, the market is very very tough. | eastbourne1982
08/2/2018 10:51 | Eastbourne, what would you consider a fair level of debt for a company like Talk (only interesed in an opinion, as most companies seem to carry lots of debt)? | septimus quaid
08/2/2018 10:20 | Pierre Oreilly, 200 million may give the share price some stability in the short term however the debt is still high relative to genuine cash flow (I ignore EBITDA). | eastbourne1982
08/2/2018 10:16 | why should they give a div when they are putting the begging bowl out? Hello, who's in charge of the shared brain today? BA Stealing is Good | bullet ant
08/2/2018 09:55 | the placing is a kick in the teeth for faithful shareholders like me, since, afaiui we wont get chance to participate. at least the divi should be held i hope, and hldrs are between a rock and a hard place. one for the long term. bullet, theres no way this is going anywhere near 77p, all the bad news is factored in and at least the financial health of the company will be beyond question after the placing - whic means institutions will have viewed it as a good buy at whatever the placing price is. | pierre oreilly
08/2/2018 09:28 | Dear god, masturbateguy is here. Another disaster for that MUG. Anyway I may close my short at 77.7p. Hope this helps BA Stealing is good | bullet ant
08/2/2018 09:01 | See quepassa trying to justify this pile of 💩 on the other thread, it needs more cash full stop. especially with prices falling and higher investment, they will not re-instate the dividend if the share price continues to languish! | bookbroker
08/2/2018 08:45 | Steps taken good for future prospects. Great JV with M&G announced for fibre build-out in urban centres. Returns health and makes balance sheet more robust. Dividend reduction confirmed as temporary measure. Reconfirm guidance. Reiterate guidance. Cost cutting strategy. Exited mobile business. Strong growth figures for new customer wins both retail and business. £200m Placing covered already. Good momentum. Strong growth. It's been a tough couple of years but looks to me like corner now turned. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
08/2/2018 08:27 | Yeah, but Sir Charles would have to sell his beloved Shemara to fund it, as it is he is pumping upwards of £40 mln in to prevent further dilution, it is what petty cash he has lying about, that will not be enough, but tie them over until a takeover offer appears! | bookbroker
08/2/2018 08:27 | I think this will turn out OK in the medium term. They needed the money that the placing brings, and if the price right now is indicative of the book-build price, then the immediate hit is not large. And the infrastructure JV is a big announcement too. Good to see management doing something before share price gets too low to do anything. | paa65
08/2/2018 08:15 | Should have raised more imho. | eastbourne1982
08/2/2018 08:01 | Reason for the Q3 results delay is a placing to raise £200m ! | masurenguy
06/2/2018 15:55 | I had 6th on my spreadsheet but good point! | septimus quaid
06/2/2018 12:34 | 08 feb on their investor relations site. It may be a good thing. If the numbers were positive it would have got lost in all the negativity today. | whatsup32
06/2/2018 08:01 | Have the Q3 results been put back by a couple of days (to 08/02/18)? The old adage, bad numbers take longer to add up than good numbers springs to mind. Or are Talk just torturing the commentariat for their nasty attitude? | septimus quaid
03/2/2018 05:59 | The sector is back in play. Vodafone confirms early talks with Liberty. 2nd Feb. M&A will likely support and bolster recently weak sector sentiment. hXXp://www.vodafone. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa |
