14/10/2017 17:40 | As I suspected, you misrepresented the story as fact. The ft included the words 'word is' ... meaning it's a rumour and therefore some or all of it may or may not be true. | pierre oreilly
14/10/2017 17:17 | Pierre, my original thought was copyright, but it's also available online. Do a Google search on, for example, FT talktalk Jefferies 210.5 The article is their London market review and is headlined "Challenger banks rally on renewed hopes of sector consolidation" The full text appears to be freely available. | 1gw
14/10/2017 15:59 | Why don't you cut and paste exactly what the ft says? You know, hearsay and all that. if the story is true as you describe, then I'm sure with confidentiality breached, jefferies won't get any more work. | pierre oreilly
14/10/2017 15:50 | FT weekend take is that the price drop was due to Jefferies failing to find buyers for a 4.7% stake. Apparently it was trying to get 45m shares away at 210.5p. So that 3.5m is perhaps part of that and there is just a bit of an overhang at present. If the FT is correct, who might be looking to offload such a big stake? | 1gw
14/10/2017 15:09 | 3.5 million shares gone through as a buy above £2.10 right at the end of the day. Going to be an interesting Monday morning. | travis2
13/10/2017 11:35 | What carries more weight? A) DownGrade from Overweight to Equal Weight B) PRICE TARGET INCREASE from 185p to 215p The term Equal Weight is most certainly not negative. More like Neutral or Market Neutral. Still supportive. Most certainly not a Sell or Reduce recommendation. An INCREASE in Price Target by 16% is however clearly very positive. The market reacts in mysterious ways. Personally, Barclays' change of stance today looks to me to be significantly more favourable than unfavourable. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
13/10/2017 10:32 | Two big trades well above price gone through since it gapped down at the open - looks like a ruse to buy lower from what I currently see | davr0s
13/10/2017 09:57 | The only antidote to all this negativity is TALK doing the business or a takeover bid. Are we due a 3 monthly trading update, mid October (last one 19/07/17)? | septimus quaid
13/10/2017 09:23 | LOL what did I say? " Usually brokers move their targets in line with market moves" I had no idea that is what they had done - which just goes to show how useless the price forecast usually is! Still an equal weight from overweight had an effect .... | fenners66
13/10/2017 09:19 | Yes equal weight from overweight recommendation change. | its the oxman
13/10/2017 09:01 | Yes, from HL website, Barclays Capital have increased their target price from 185p (08/06/17) to 215p (13/10/17) and everybody runs for the exits! | septimus quaid
13/10/2017 08:43 | Broker downgrade from 185 to 215 apparently - what a load of nonsense (IMO of course) | davr0s
13/10/2017 08:40 | According to LSE, nothing seemed to happen trade-wise until an uncrossed trade at 08:05 @ 203.79 which seemed to trigger an avalanche of automatic trades. (auto)fat fingers? | septimus quaid
13/10/2017 08:22 | Barclays today. Downgrade from Overweight to EQUAL WEIGHT but SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASE TARGET PRICE from 185p to 215p. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
13/10/2017 08:07 | That looked like a difficult open and then a big drop when they got it open. Is there news out? | 1gw
13/10/2017 08:07 | Surely not another downgrade. Advfn shows a new symbol but no news ?! | davr0s
12/10/2017 08:33 | Very happy with my holding:) | au24
11/10/2017 08:46 | Looking stronger day by day. Expect 260p end of year imo | kmann
10/10/2017 11:32 | Yes, every man and his dog are sticking the boot in but the shareprice continues its gentle rises | septimus quaid
09/10/2017 10:08 | Lol - what's is very encouraging is the way it is shrugging off these downgrades - suggests someone prepared to buy any weakness | davr0s
09/10/2017 09:06 | Yes, Citigroup's turn today. Share price seems to be shaking it off so far though. | 1gw
09/10/2017 08:08 | What's this another downgrade to hit the share price at the open?! | davr0s
03/10/2017 04:29 | Interesting that Blackrock are maintaining/increasi 2017-05-30 0.99% 2017-09-12 1.80% 1.8% equates to about £36m, plus associated stock loan costs. Stock loan costs, although negotiable, can be considerable, as there are the actual loan fees, dividends to cover and costs associated with collateral provision (in the event of the stock borrower going bust). Blackrock must be fairly confident in their position, although they seem to short just about anything going (so maybe they are just taking a punt on a range of shorts). | septimus quaid |
