15/7/2017 09:19 | I think the rise in BT was less to do with PJ and more to do with a broker's comment. Anyhow, more BT beating in the press yesterday (certainly in all the papers I read and that was most of them). The regulator promising to keep BT under the cosh as far as as the separation of Openreach is concerned. From the Times: Sharon White, chief executive of Of-com, said that the monitoring unit would assess whether governance rules were being observed and whether Openreach was acting more independently of BT, making its own decisions and treating all its customers equally. Various levels of scrutiny promised and follow up reviews. Probably 15 years too late but good news for the likes of Talktalk. | septimus quaid
13/7/2017 19:44 | Well let's hope mr pj lewis says the same again today if that was the cause of bt's 4% rise today. | pierre oreilly
13/7/2017 19:15 | Useful tick up today. More satisfactory beating of BT again today, in todays's Times (hard copy), apparently from yesterday's shareholder's meeting: One shareholder, PJ Lewis, described the network unit as "frankly a feral company, completely out of control, beholden to itself and abusing its monopoly control" | septimus quaid
10/7/2017 08:58 | Good to see that Sir Charles continues in refreshing/renewing/ Grasping the nettle. A new vision and new direction and new blood much needed. Talktalk took a big hit over the hack-attack but is now rapidly putting its house back in order. Now is the time for TalkTalk to start to be bold again, especially when arch-competitor and industry monolith BT is currently much weakened. ALL IMO. DYOR. QP | quepassa
07/7/2017 11:13 | Yes, seems to have sailed through the ex-divi date regardless | septimus quaid
07/7/2017 10:50 | I'd forgotten about the divi. Share price seems to be coping very well with having gone ex-divi for 5p yesterday. | 1gw
05/7/2017 13:05 | buying ahead of tomorrow's ex divi date? | septimus quaid
05/7/2017 11:08 | BT seem to be getting a nice beating by the press at the mo, pension deficit spiralling out of control/overpaying for rugby coverage rights. | septimus quaid
03/7/2017 07:39 | Cleaner’ TalkTalk set for success, says Deutsche Bank Telecoms group TalkTalk (TALK) has adopted a ‘cleaner strategy’ that should give it a better chance of success, says Deutsche Bank. Analyst Robert Grindle reiterated his ‘buy’ recommendation and target price of 230p on the stock, which was trading down 0.5%, or 0.9p, at 175p at the time of writing. "Our initiation last year flagged that TalkTalk should prove a beneficiary of UK regulatory tightening. This was prescient but the company has suffered from febrile broadband competition and the mobile growth opportunity is now viewed as too expensive and complex to pursue" he said. Although Grindle said while this was ‘disappointing | masurenguy
02/7/2017 19:51 | I'm in here purely on the basis that I think they'll get bought out. Not sure I have much faith in Mr Dunstone to turn this around by himself. | lionheart79
01/7/2017 11:36 | LOL, definition of a long term investment: "a short term investment that went wrong" ...me | septimus quaid
01/7/2017 08:16 | Not much movement in the share price presently with limited range. its just waiting for Charles Dunstone to work his magic. What do I think. I think over time he will do it and resurrect the shareprice. I also then think that the company will be bought out. One for a longer term investment. What though do I know. | leafysuburb
29/6/2017 17:11 | Looks like an interesting recovery play with a good yield. | masurenguy
26/6/2017 08:08 | BIG VOTE OF CONFIDENCE. Today. Deutsche Bank issue issue Broker Note and REITERATE their BUY RECOMMENDATION on TalkTalk with a TARGET PRICE of 230p. This indicates that Deutsche see some 30% UPSIDE to current share price. ALL IMO> DYOR. QP | quepassa
22/6/2017 14:40 | Talk talk invo being delivered through all the doors by postman :) | au24
21/6/2017 11:08 | talk talk opened their new offices in salford recently.. look impressive. | rajaster
16/6/2017 16:42 | Cheers 1gw, HL (SIPP) seem to be on the ball and TD (nominee) also. Not something I've done before, as for the AGMs attended in the past I've been a direct (certificated) holder. Otherwise, TALK motoring on nicely today (despite a stinker broker note earlier in the week). | septimus quaid
16/6/2017 16:36 | 7 Million shares gone through in the Auction at 182.1! Interesting. | royaloak
16/6/2017 08:20 | SQ - if you contact your broker saying you want to attend it should be fairly straightforward. In my experience they often like a week or so's notice and would usually send you a letter (sometimes via email) just a day or two before the meeting stating that you are authorised to represent them in respect of the number of shares you hold. | 1gw
16/6/2017 08:16 | Major shareholders. Interesting to see from the annual report that Toscafund has appeared on the major shareholder list. Updating for the holdings notices which detailed subsequent changes, the latest disclosed positions appear to be: 31% Charles Dunstone 15% Capital Research 14% Invesco 12% David Ross 4% Toscafund 4% Jupiter I would hope to see Toscafund look to build a position from here. They often appear to accumulate significant positions in the UK companies they invest in. | 1gw
14/6/2017 20:58 | The Company's Annual General Meeting ("AGM") will be held at 10.30am on Wednesday 19 July 2017 at The Boiler House, Soapworks, Ordsall Lane, Salford Quays, Manchester, M5 3NP. Anybody got any experiences with their nominee broker re attending an AGM in person? | septimus quaid
11/6/2017 15:55 | Thanks SQ - I'd noticed the headline but hadn't read it. It looks to me as though SSE is suggesting that Talktalk might have the idea it is worth rather more than SSE thinks it is. But I take it as encouraging that SSE are acknowledging that it (a major acquisition such as Talktalk) is a possibility. In fact, the question (presumably the journalist asked SSE if it would consider a major acquisition such as Talktalk) and answer perhaps even hint that some kind of initial conversation has already taken place. And if one utility is starting to think about the idea then maybe others are too - and a bit of competition can do wonders for the sale price of a business. | 1gw |
