The SARS-CoV epidemic occurred between 2002 to 2003. In 2005 SNG had a share price of 150 GBX. MERS-CoV emerged in 2012. In 2012 to 2014 SNG had an share price of around 50 GBX. In December 2019 the share price was languishing at 6 GBX.

So what is so different now that means SNG001, which has been around for over a decade, is going to work with CoVid-19 when the WHO in mid 2016 seem to say nothing of clinical benefit has materialised in interferon treatments in relation to previous versions of CoV? Does this thinking have any connection to SNG001 not being in the current WHO preferred clinical trial set?

Here is the WHO reference along with some prophetic quotes from the same article. They were not kidding about the contents of the last paragraph quoted!

In July 2016 WHO published a paper on MERS-CoV which included ...
it has become clear that more strategic investments are needed in the early development of diagnostics, therapeutics and preventives against pathogens of pandemic potential.
and ...
As in the SARS-CoV epidemic, however, the use of treatments such as ribavirin, interferons (sic) and corticosteroids have yielded little to no clinical benefit, despite showing efficacy in nonhuman primates (NHPs)
and ...
In the realm of emerging infectious diseases with suspected or known pandemic potential, governmental agencies and nongovernmental organizations might have a key role in the development of interventions against diseases that do not provide a strong incentive for private-sector investments, but that are still relevant to public health and global security.
and ...
Although global coordination has resulted in the maturation of the preclinical pipeline for novel interventions for MERS-CoV, products will have to be developed along faster than normal timelines, with greater investments by multiple agencies for development, manufacturing and preclinical and clinical testing, as well as preparations for timely efficacy testing in affected populations if the incidence of disease rises sharply.

Griff has been holding since 2015 and was under water for a great deal of that time with average about 38p. Brought his average down with a. Placing at 16p and eventually sold. He has been hammered on many stocks so hes let the share price run up and left in an orderly fashion rather than crashing the spProb use his funds to lower his average elsewhere

Problem with viruses is they mutate so a vaccine is always behind the current mutation so always playing catch up as is the case with influenza and that vaccine is hit and miss it isnt effective on everyone who has it BUT the big pharmas make tons of cash so their mission is accomplished.

When a serious investor rebalances a portfolio based on total exposure to any one stock. If following a significant appreciation in price of any one share the portfolio becomes unbalanced. It's natural to take the opportunity of liquidity to rebalance accordingly, especially based on a binary bet. It's no coincidence you own a significant proportion of any one share as a private investor, but imagine how many other shares you own to balance your exposure! With Covid-19 stocks in vogue, let's hope for the sake of humanity as well as our portfolio values that this rebalancing of his portfolio is now finished, thus the timing of the RNS, and it's onwards and upwards from here on in

Count,

you've only seen it as fiddling after the event. What would you have called it if the share price had dropped after the placing? Charity?

That's how markets work.

Quite worrying if the best chance we have is a vaccine (for emergency use) this time next year. Lets hope that some sort of treatment (eg. SNG's) can be found before that.

The US government has awarded a $456 million contract to Johnson & Johnson’s pharmaceutical arm Janssen for a coronavirus vaccine, despite the company having not yet begun clinical trials for the drug. It followed a $150 million contract with Janssen, made the previous week, for a “new antiviral” for COVID-19.

The Janssen deal is the largest contract for a vaccine so far. It is part of a billion-dollar investment project by Johnson & Johnson and the US government to research, develop and test a coronavirus vaccine; testing is hoped to begin by September 2020, with the drug available for emergency use by this time next year.
