Hello all. Been invested here for a while... First post on ADFNNot sure what everyone thinks but the notion that this virus is just going to go away forever seems plain wrong. I know there has been a recent study predicting the exact date there will be 0 deaths/cases but alot of science points to it being with us for us some time (see below) Aside from the above there are countless countries that are going through a surge now. Surely a treatment that can help fight against the virus early will be beneficial and something you would stockpile for future use as well. This will surely not be the last time something like this happens and it cannot be sustainable to take the measures alot of countries have had to every time. If phase 2 is successful then then a phase 3 trial can be extended internationally if needs be from what I have see. Please tell me if I am missing something with SNG lol. https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/05/coronavirus-pandemic-last-2-years/

Nobby ,

My major concern at this time is dosing levels ..
SNG001 was designed to treat Flu like viral infection in COPD patients and when Covid19 patients came along we basically have kept the same formulation / dosing levels but can we believe that this dosing levels will be sufficant against covid 19 ?
What are your thoughts ??

Just watched documentary on hospital ICU ward made over the last couple of weeks.
Instead of putting these charts up every day during the updates they should put clips of this programme.
Would make people realise just how cruel this virus is and the impact on frontine staff.
Also these people flouting lockdown measures would realise the potential damage they are causing and the desparate need of a cure that is needed.

amaretto,
No they haven’t gone away
But they are nowhere near as much of a Blue Touch paper for the share price I’m afraid (from a selfish shareholders point of view)

The COPD trial was suspended because of the crisis and they said they would try to amend the protocol to include Covid 19 patients. However, now that the number of Covid cases have dropped significantly perhaps they could just restart the COPD study as was and recruit the final 11 patients.

"The drop in COVID patients is very welcome but will cause some issues with trials as there won't be enough patients, in the UK anyhow."

The above referenced in the Guardian article below.

I think they will have just made the numbers for the hospital test (but not sure) - unless they got into nursing homes rapidly, I am not sure they will make the numbers on the home test UNLESS the hospital trial is a clear positive and there is a second wave.

Might effect the home trial but will definitely cause major issues for any company (and I can think of a few) who have yet to start. Many will struggle.

So I guess parasite is a broad term...

Viruses are just a bag of DNA or RNA depending on the type of virus. The other organisms you mention have some sort of body as well as DNA. That is the difference.

nobby,
I’m absolutely no expert on Parasites but for example a Tapeworm is a Parasite but surely that is a living thing?
There are loads of other examples of Parasites that are “living”
A lot of plants cannot reproduce themselves without the use of Birds, Butterfly’s, Bees etc etc. Are these living Flowers also Parasites
I’m probably way off track 🤷‍a94;️🤷‍♂ᥧ9;

I understand that Nobby but as I say I feel it errs on the wrong side ....to state that it is not living.
It is more living than dead that's for sure.

Chalk might be loads of decompressed sea creatures bones but they are not suddenly going to come to life.

Like all viruses, it's a parasite. It can't reproduce itself without another organism so in that way is not a 'living thing'.

What I can't understand is the scientists definition of the virus not being a living thing.
Sure,it needs a cell to be be able to reproduce, but I wonder if they ought the change their parameters!
It obviously has a strong desire to keep going in its own way!

imo
