10/12/2024 22:53 | Radgimus, I wouldn't say impossible, if the model was 2 years or more from start of production they would have time to engineer a new solution. If the SOP was more imminent the OEM wouldn't be able achieve the optimal setup it would have be a compromise of some sort, this is why contracts are usually awarded 2 years before SOP so suppliers have time to make sure they can deliver. Surface Transforms are in demand because they can use smaller discs for the same braking performance as larger Brembo brakes, this allows them to design a lighter drive train overall. | quemaster
10/12/2024 21:58 | Thanks for the update Bagpuss. A £290M order book equates to about £60M PA turnover once they've all gone into production using the 5 year contract average , this could be accommodated without factoring in the building of a second production facility in the next couple of years. It also wouldn't be a surprise if it was a Typo | quemaster
10/12/2024 21:43 | They can fiddle them how they want Half of Germany is on strike, I’d say several manufacturers are on the brink | washingmachine
10/12/2024 21:39 | New car registrations: +1.1% in October 2024; year-to-date battery-electric sales -4.9% 21 November 2024 In October 2024, new EU car registrations reversed their decline, recording a modest 1.1% increase. Spain led the way with a robust 7.2% growth, while Germany rebounded with a 6% increase following three months of decline. Decreases were recorded in both France (-11.1%) and Italy (-9.1%). | thiopia
10/12/2024 21:21 | I’m actually amazed I’m the only one on here remarking about it. | washingmachine
10/12/2024 21:19 | The problem lies also With the virtual collapse of new car sales in the west … Closely followed by the second hand market | washingmachine
10/12/2024 21:07 | I think that would be a good sign. Get rid of customer 'orders' if they aren't prepared to pay up. Quite clear the market doesn't 'believe' the £390m order book. Otherwise the stock wouldn't be valued at c.£4m | thiopia
10/12/2024 20:14 | Q. See the investment case on the website. Seems they have misplaced £100m of orders... Appears to now to be £290m... | bagpuss67
10/12/2024 18:58 | It’s been stated in historical presentations how much of a problem it would be to change supplier once Surface Transforms brakes have been engineered into a model. The only other ceramic brake manufacturer to global OEM’s Brembo are not a direct replacement as they don’t have the same properties or dimensions for the same braking performance. The time and cost of doing so would be considerable so it’s no surprise that OEM 10 are being proactive in trying to keep ST producing their brakes, they are responsible for half of the £390M contracted pipeline and have been very supportive in the past even wanting ST to build their second production facility close to their own factory. After selling out completely on the day of the preliminary results I’m back in for a punt in the hope that they will go the extra mile to keep ST alive. | quemaster

10/12/2024 05:56 | Yeah maybe he got told to take it down, he's kind of given the game away about one of the mystery OEMs. Does sound quite positive though and shows a big commitment by a client to making thus business work | soixanteneufdude
09/12/2024 23:17 | Maybe he's working on behalf of a consortium of OEMs not just GM This really could be a gamechanger. | thiopia
09/12/2024 23:13 | That LinkedIn profile has changed the description of the work history to remove the reference to GM motors. It just says contractor for surface transforms now . I wonder why this is? Perhaps he wasn't supposed to say he was working on GMs behalf... | paddyrock
09/12/2024 21:20 | As I’ve said before… this has serious potential … after all all vehicles need brakes .. ICE OR EV’s | gripfit
09/12/2024 20:14 | This is very positive news. | smart solution
09/12/2024 19:42 | Could it have been quid pro quo ? In return for faster/upfront cash payments the OEM gets more say in / oversight over the manufacturing process ? Maybe other OEMs offered similar or equivalent partnerships ? Would be very encouraging as extends cash runway and demonstrates how onside their customers are. These US OEMs in particular very used to themselves or their suppliers operating in Chapter 11 administration/bankr | thiopia

09/12/2024 18:33 | This comment below was based on my post on LSE. Someone posted on linkedin today that they had started a role paid for by GM to support the company. This was my post New post on LinkedInToday 12:11 Someone just posted that they have been appointed as a Lean coach saying "On behalf of GM to assist this key supplier achieve OTIF and quality deliverables for new Corvette Z R 1" hxxps://www.linkedin bagpuss67: Surely positive that GM have put in a manufacturing consultant to help achieve OTIF from SCE on the Corvette...Hopefully that is consistent with ST being around to manufacture the parts | paddyrock
