14/12/2016 19:00 | careful,The only metric IMO that looks positive from an investment perspective is the NTAV, SPD trading at a decent discount. As for the underlying business, still doesn't compare IMO, forecasts:SPD Rev £3.1bn, pbt £144m, margin 4.6%, eps growth -52%JD Rev £2.1bn, pbt £192m, margin 9%, eps growth +27%DD | discodave4
14/12/2016 18:42 | Surely now it'll be a race between between companies to get there house in order. Reminds me of the banks . Each one telling us how squeaky clean they are now. Surely than can only be a good thing? | nortic 007
14/12/2016 17:16 | Sell greed buy fear- Warren Buffett | nortic 007
14/12/2016 17:00 | Comparing JD. with SPD it is obvious that the 'Ashley' fear factor is huge. The figures would suggest that SPD should be worth much more than JD. JD. turnover £1.82bn SPD turnover £3.52bn JD. net assets £401m SPD net assets £1380m Gearing is about the same. JD. current market worth £3.05bn SPD current market woth £1.66bn. | careful
14/12/2016 16:13 | JD's 3.2 % rally. | nortic 007
14/12/2016 15:41 | Funny JD's have bounced small and as for SPD ......nothing.Doesn' | nortic 007
14/12/2016 15:03 | Maybe Mr Ashley should call on MP's and the like to do a wide spread investigation into working practises . Maybe then people will look at SPD on fundamentals and realise they're cheap compared to other retailers . | nortic 007
14/12/2016 14:58 | Have you ever known any yet to put their hands up? | au24
14/12/2016 14:54 | Humble pie all round journalists. | nortic 007
14/12/2016 14:52 | How many companies have big warehouses...... it's going on all around us.I just though it will be very interesting to see how the press report on JD Sports on the basis that they can't stop harping on about how great they are and how bad SPD are.Mail on Sunday comes to mind.Unfair reporting on SPD I think. | nortic 007
14/12/2016 14:45 | Useless, I couldn't agree with you more. | nortic 007
14/12/2016 14:38 | SPD will now be ahead of the pack in getting their house in order. Everyone else is at risk of getting hammered. Jd get to slaughtered today | useless23

14/12/2016 14:14 | I don't think the average man in the street really bothers about all this and those who do probably don't shop at either SPD or JD. SPD has had dire publicity yet turnover is up. | ashbox
14/12/2016 13:46 | If your a consumer who's boycotted SPD on moral grounds and then migrate to JD Sports what would they think when they hear about JD Sports working practices .What does the consumer do next. Maybe the man on the street will realise it's going on everywhere. SPD could regain some market share. It's only a thought. | nortic 007
14/12/2016 13:40 | Close friend works for H Samuel, they are told a break is frowned upon, of course it's they way of saying you can take it but it's a black mark against you and so no one does. They subsequently come back dehydrated. The manager frequently add more hours to a shift effectively reducing staff below minimum wage. They basically tell you when you can take holidays so you can't effectively make plans. Spd are not alone and was probably made an example of as a deterrent for other companies, but unless they and other companies are hung out to dry things won't change. made an example of probably | terminated
14/12/2016 13:12 | It seems to go on everywhere .Enjoying your break ? | nortic 007
14/12/2016 12:36 | NorticM AND S are nearly as bad also. A friend of a relative worked in one of their shops and was timed when going to the toilet etc. She left very soon after starting as disgusted at the way treated. | au24 |
