On a slightly lighter note. I can't imagine Selfridges being to happy mentioned in the same text as SPD.The Rolling Stones said the same when there music was played at Donald Trump rally's across America .But that didn't turn out to be a disaster after all.

As part of the Transaction, SRI will grant Sports Direct a royalty free licence to continue to use the Dunlop brand for premium workwear and safety wear for Sports Direct's own retail purposes. SRI has the option to acquire these rights in the future subject to certain mechanical conditions for US$12.5m. The parties will also enter into certain other commercial arrangements in relation to the supply of products to the Sports Direct core business.

I must state there can only be one winning answer. That could have been very expensive indeed for me.

So what was it then?SPD do not own all of the Dunlop Slazenger brand rights. So the Dunlop Slazenger deal in 2004 for £42m was not inclusive of all brand rights/licences.In 2014 for instance, IBML (a division of SPD) bought the Australian and New Zealand Dunlop Slazenger brand rights from Pacific brands.Sumitomo already own the Dunlop rights for other markets.DD

They didn't buy Dunlop for £42 million. They bought Dunlop and Slazenger. As far as I can tell they've only sold the Dunlop brand and retain Slazenger. So the cagr will be way above 8%

These are set to fall drastically over the next few weeks as further investigations on this company are to be revealed, avoid.

This could be the start of some kind of business relationship between Sumitomo and SPD. I don't think this will be the last we hear from our ( acquisition hungry) Japanese friends.DD it's good to have you back you've been very quiet . Glad my post has woken the sleeping giant. I seems to me that whatever SPD is or becomes, high end of which they are striving for or low end, nothing pleases you.I don't see you on the JD. chat room.....strange. Do you own any share in any company or do you just go to the races and not have a bet??Au24 I'll get working on those lines :)

Dunlop brand, not been a bad return, bought it for £42m in 2004 and sold for £112m (about 8% cagr).Assume this is the start of their "selfridges" strategy, to re-focus on selling top end brands cheaper than anybody else, the complete opposite to the strategy that made them successful in the first place - buy up well known (but mediocre) brands and sell them loads cheaper than the likes of Nike, etc., thus giving the punter the impression they are getting fantastic value!. Now selling off the goose that laid the golden egg??.Dont think Addidas et al will oblige MA's fantasy IMO.DD
