Jaknife - everyone is waiting to see who has been awarded tidal CFD contracts due to be announced very shortly. If Simec can win a slug of this (Clabburn is the expect on this thread - search for his previous entries) then Simec will get a guaranteed income stream and that (in my opinion) will allow them to refinance / take out new loans etc.

Article below refers.

Agreement reached before June perhaps ?The Directors have held discussions with the issuers of the bonds and have concluded that it is a reasonable assumption that the bonds will be refinanced or 'rolled-over' and that there is sufficient time in advance of the repayment date to have a new arrangement agreed and in place. However, no agreement has yet been reached and there is no certainty that the bonds can be refinanced.

jotoha - as any asset is valued: discounted future earnings, ie. the DCF model.

Well that's a good question. I don't think it would be unreasonable to look at the income produced by Gore street or Gresham house over the year as their total MW capacity is known. One could extrapolate to a per MW figure.

Thanks noiseboy , how would one value a 230MW battery storage unit ??

Their proposal for a 230MW battery storage on site would make it one of the biggest in the U.K. (Have a look at Gore Sfreet and Gresham House) and they are sitting right next to a grid connection...

BESS."Planning Policy Wales Edition 11 (Feb 2021) [3] confirms in 5.7.12 Energy storage has an important part to play in managing the transition to a low carbon economy. The growth in energy generation from renewable sources requires the management of the resultant intermittency in supply, and energy storage can help balance supply and demand. Proposals for new storage facilities should be supported wherever possible."

It looks like it to me. Share price seems to have been controlled very tightly for the last week or more. Of the two, I would guess it's Uskmouth, judging by the time it's been before the Welsh government and bearing in mind the need to make progress on what is potentially a very important site.

As an island nation surrounded by water, we will also aggressively explore renewable opportunities afforded by our geography and geology, including tidal and geothermal. And we are actively exploring the potential for international projects to provide clean, affordable and secure power, for example by expanding the Contracts for Difference scheme.

Indeed. You'd think that the energy crisis would require them to consider every avenue to reduce the dependency on gas or even just to reduce bills, but no. It only has to be the approved politbureau renewables of wind and solar. The two systems least likely to succeed.

But perhaps the two most suitable to make landowners rich. Hmmm.

Company needs some quality PR company to promote Tidal , the Scots are very much in favour , but our Party man is not really up to it , he does not understand technology and surrounds himself with lots of yes men, very poor show.

Not a single mention of tidal generation in the latest government "energy policy", which when combined with the fact that Atlantis had to get a loan from Scottish Enterprise to either pay for the work on the two turbines (parts cost and labour?), or the installation cost, or both, doesn't look very promising. Perhaps the fourth turbine return to service is dependent on income from the other three to pay the bills.

Did I read on here that Simec had lent another couple of million to SAE recently, as I thought from the last AR that SAE were expecting Simec to roll over an existing loan, rather than lend new money?
