04/7/2009 04:12 | no i didn't sell at the top, though i did x 6 my money. it is difficult to see what could have been done (by Larry) over the past two or three years, other than wait for the inevitable overshoot on the downside. the property cycle is there to be exploited. all you need do when it is collapsing is make sure you are going to be a survivor and not overgeared, the kitchen sinking of the balance sheet suggest that Larry believes we are now back at the point where dramtic things can happen on the upside - impossible any time over the past three years.... no point in watching it daily, its a 2 bagger just to get back to 50% of nav | ydderf
03/7/2009 21:11 | Was that in Safeland - if so that was some buy....well if you sold at the top? I'm a strong supporter of the Lipman's, but been very disappointed with this over the last 3/4 years. Too late to ditch, just hope Larry transforms the company into something else. | topvest
03/7/2009 14:47 | And if you had to pick an entry point over the last 20 years, where would it have been......? There was a memorable Friday afternoon in the early 90's when i was the only buyer of a thick stack being dumped by an institution for .......7p The analysts said it was a sell that month What a BUY! | ydderf
03/7/2009 14:39 | Yes, I believe that the Lipmans will be ready to start a few new ventures now when times to buy are good. These have performed awfully over the last two years, but doesn't mean that is a guide to what is going to happen over the next couple of years. | topvest
03/7/2009 14:10 | Put up a chart, preferably for 20 years and with LAND as a benchmark. You can see what happened....but of course even the spectacular chart doesn't tell the whole story, shareholders received the gifts of Hercules and one or two other spun off business along the way. Now cycles being what they are, and family controlled companies with long AIM histories being rare......this is clearly very much a rocket called 'de ja vu' back on the launch pad. Stock is there for the brave....... | ydderf
20/5/2009 01:33 | The next one to jump must be Terrace Hill Group (THG) | mryesyes
20/5/2009 01:12 | Bottom line : Safeland are back in business, NOT GOING UNDER and worth, debatably +/- their NAV so buy | mryesyes
19/5/2009 21:43 | so whats the worskpace fund, whats it worth, whats the gearing etc | glennborthwick
19/5/2009 19:47 | can somebody explain todays deal - | glennborthwick
19/5/2009 08:28 | Very interesting announcement today. Looks like an opportunistic deal if I've ever seen one. | topvest
18/5/2009 23:55 | LEO up today too, agreed SAF,THG price attractive I do not understand why house builders like TW. and BDEV that are both in negative equity have all the day traders attention, and all the pent up investment activity making their share prices absurd and allowing for rights issues to pay down debt, while property owners that have big NAV's over share price (strong positive equity) are treated as dead.... Buy | mryesyes
15/5/2009 12:51 | LEO - linked to Safeland - MC #100k. | double6
14/5/2009 14:28 | they haven't referred to covenant risk, just that debt is 'manageable' ( in the Director's opinion ). more on the specifics of this might have helped the share price ( IMHO ) if you can live with that, however, ( & I can ), then the share price @ 16p, in light of the 'conservatively' computed NAV of 63p given today, IMHO is attractive. ( based on the management team's previous record, re demergers etc ). unsuitable for traders though due to it's limited 'free' float. | the troll
14/5/2009 07:20 | net asets announced today. wil it boost the price? | dd776
08/4/2009 01:11 | Sale at 15p today, with a 0.5p fall in price In similar position to THG Property owning stocks, esp small ones like these just no interest from investors For some reason tho,l BDEV with a NAV of no more than 10p and with imho liklihood of banks going for the jugular and rumours of almost zero completions on flats UK wide, goes up by 10% per day Suggest BDEV is lining up behind TW. to bounce a rights issue off its faithful followers Just goes to show that sentiment is king, not fundamentals, the highest risers of 2009 are the massively leveraged, many I hold having risen from 10p to 40p this year with no real way of valuing them except what people will pay as they see the daily rises they pile in, but SAF and THG and LTS ignored | mryesyes
01/4/2009 20:52 | Last trade was 14p while the sell price is stated as 15p, yet you note a deal at 10p Almost looks like there's not much interest or understanding at all on this one similarly LTS MM's just bored stiff with lack of trades, making as much as they can, not bothering to adjust the spreads correctly, seems if you try to sell you get stuffed | mryesyes
25/3/2009 22:41 | Yes I agree risk v reward in your favour holding and I wish you well. I'll as I previously stated wait until results and then decide if to get back in or not. | jeff h
25/3/2009 21:18 | Jeff - yes, you may be right. But they could have taken private without any difficulty for some time in my opinion. We will have to see what happens. I would rather take the loss on going private than sell out at 10p when last NAV was 100p+. | topvest
25/3/2009 21:08 | Not a buyback topvest...an addition to its stake by SHC I think? The seller maybe concerned that the co. will delist as per Metnor et al. The Lipmans now got 71%+ so almost a 75% EGM majority. | jeff h
25/3/2009 19:26 | Spoke too soon - big buy back at 10p a share today; obviously a distressed seller! Whilst the price is ridiculous, I take this as a positive sign. If Safeland were going bust then they wouldn't be buying at any price! | topvest
24/3/2009 20:14 | Surprising that the company are not buying back these stray share sales, given they have authority to do so and they are presumably not in a close period yet. | topvest
23/3/2009 21:40 | They own the majority of the shares anyway. The Lipmans will be back with new ventures when market conditions permit and so it will suit them to retain a listing for Safeland. | topvest
22/3/2009 21:35 | NAV 113p on here, share price 21p Can't see any point in having a listing, if I were I director | mryesyes |
