If trading update is good they will bring it forward while US markets are riding near all time highs...some pundits expecting a correction over Sept/Oct just before US elections...timing is key for max impact...hopefully rates are also expected to be cut over the coming months...

Isis, last year S4 Capital gave a 6 month trading update on 24th July with Interim results released on 18th September. So going by these previous dates S4 should be releasing a trading update sometime next week.

tongosti,

One of the major advantages of institutions going short is the complete control over the shares they borrow, dump or drip feed sells into the market, run algos all day buying and selling to control the price, buy the dips and sell the rips.

Retail investors on one of the platforms can only place a leveraged bet at retail spreads, paying retail borrow fees. With zero control over the stock.

The platform then bets against you to hedge their risk and market participants can no doubt see your positions and stops !

@Tong - why get wound up by Wally. You’re giving him the oxygen he needs to hang around like a bad smell. He said he’s been investing for 40 years - that means he is likely to be retired, bored and by the sounds of it, a bit short to go out and live it up. I for one won’t be posting on bb’s when I’m retired - the barnstormer soft top v8 will be taking me round Europe! For now, let’s ignore the old fella and leave him to his thoughts of what could have been as he sips a tired looking sherry from the bottom shelf. Oh yes, I’m still invested and have a feeling, since I added in the 40’s, this coul£ be a good year….

Shorting has that aura about it and for some reason every Joe on these anonymous forums claims to be an expert. Next time Wally does something all it takes is to post here "on the day" if he went long/short and can use that as a reference point. Simple as it sounds it is not so for the Wally variety. Ps. Wally my good man - adding to your shorts this morning? Grow up and own it for a change old chap.
