The harsh realities are that staff numbers and wages and benefits will have to be cut at the same time.
Ingoings must match outgoings.

Otherwise nearly all jobs will be lost forever.

Harsh measures to ensure the business survives in the future is the best way to preserve as many jobs as possible.

If the unions cannot see this, or dream of some white knight loaded with cash will bale them out, it will be a disaster.

Harsh times. But fewer modestly paid jobs are better that widespread job losses.

Yes quite right, I put a little in here earlier, not the best

CEO has about 1 year to rightsize RMG.
we can only guess the reduced revenue.
But can he reduce his fixed and variable overheads to survive?

So many businesses in the same position.
Profit, dividends not the objective now, just survival.

Smartie how dare you think morally like that..... when hard working shareholders are mourning the lose of their dividend..... no doubt they will want the employees to take a pay cut....... after all what are they doing ...... just increasing their risk of contracting Covid 19 by going out delivering to every address.

Watching CNBC this morning has been oh so funny. Economist against Health opinion and views. Love these arguments. Political and economic supporters are such an irritation. How can they justify supporting the market when it should be direct to the people and supporting healthcare. Rich getting richer whilst the poor die.

Next and other retailers closing their online shopping last night wasn't a positive.

The statement today seems very sensible indeed, lets hope the
unions and management can work together to ensure stability in
these very testing times. Just bought a few.

Nor me, I generally stick to low mcap companies generating profit. Or exploration companies like TXP unearthing vast assets, just see this as a huge opportunity at the moment.

Possibly...? Have to add that this is not the kind of stock I would buy in a normally. Under investment, poor ROI, unionised, huge pension deficit etc

Spoken to 2 depots / sorting offices in the last 2 days. Packet volumes up and expecting to be awarded part of the contract to deliver medicine and food to the 1.5 million advised to self-isolate. Think when this is announced there will be a decent bounce. Also strike is obviously on hold. The only stock I have been adding in the last 2 days since the crash in shares prices in the last month.

Following yesterday’s announcement the Post Office is now the heart of the community.
